  • I believe the system has worked ok in the past, but the numbers in the present failures are overwhelming. It's a bit harsh  to expect everything to be completed with such a comparatively short time IMO. They SoLR have to rely on receiving account info from the administrators, with so many new accounts to set up, it just IS going to take time.
I'm just grateful to still have gas and electric, as I'm old enough to remember being cut-off in the past through strikes and other industry problems....
Moaning at a Minister, won't make things work any quicker - it may make YOU feel better, though lol
  • I was With Green Energy now taken over by Shell.
Went to put in first meter readings on Tuesday 9th November 2021 and found that their so called agreed readings for 27th September were way out.
We have no gas just day and night Electricity.
Shell's Economy reading for 27th September is 38467 units. Mine is 48736. Difference 10269.
Shells Day reading is 13332 mine is 16537. Difference 3205.
Cost to me if I accept their readings of £3164.
Only I can read my meter a company person needs to gain entry to my flat and there has been no one for years.
I read the meters monthly and keep a spread sheet record.
I have complained to Shell and supplied them with present readings, of my meter readings and date, photographs of the meter readings, Downloaded copy of my last bill and photograph.

    I expect a positive reply.

DID YOU DO THE SAME AS ME?

DO YOU HAVE A GOOD IDEA OF WHAT YOUR BILL SHOULD BE?
  • @mumofstig In my experience, the system wasn't any better when the defaults were infrequent and one at a time.

I am also that old, but obviously no wiser. All I ask is that the Minister does his job, and occasionally puts in an appearance or makes a statement, and shows a bit of interest in, and to, the electorate.
  • Shell have replied in less than 48 hours to  will agree with my figures and get back to me.
This is what their mail says

Thank you for contacting us and providing us with these information.

We're still in a process of setting up accounts for Green customers as we're still waiting for Green administrators to provide us with the rest of necessary information. Once your account is fully set up, we will send you an email to inform you of the next steps. We will be able to dispute these reads, as there was obviously some kind of mistake made.

Don't worry. We will make sure to update correct meter readings as soon as possible, and produce accurate bill afterwards.

We will contact you with an update as soon as possible

My quotes from them for Electric day and night are 27.299 day rate and 11.229 night rate
  • @Proview111 Yes and yes. Next question. And no need to shout.

All well and good, but surely the point is why should you HAVE to do that, and prove your case to the suppliers? Why can't they be trusted to get it right in the first place. Ever notice that estimated readings are, more often than not, over-estimated rather than under-estimated?
  • At last! Shell has now told me what my tariff charges will be, massively more than Green but hey ho, it was good while it lasted and if Green had stayed afloat, they would have raised their prices anyway. Still don’t know when I will get a Shell account but I have got an idea of what I’m spending now. Great relief, I can sit and wait now for the world to get back to normal. Have I got enough time left for that I wonder!

anyone had issues with an opening read not being accepted?   my gas read today was 8032 but the message said it had to be between 8066 and 8233 - i reluctantly used 8066 as i expect they would have used a higher estimate otherwise but annoying nevertheless

On the plus side, there's a chance you'll get more gas at Green's rate and less at Shell's

i had switched to the 'hornbeam' tariff about a month before green went bust as they had emailed a warning that 'oak' was going to have a huge increase and hornbeam seemed a bit lower than the amount oak was going up to - shell is only about 12% more than hornbeam so not a massive increase - at least shell allow you to choose the monthly dd amount and date - i divided the annual cost of 'flexible 6' shown on the mse 'cheap energy club' dashboard by 12

Still all quiet on the Green/Shell front. They did promise to at least set me an account up by the 16th, which is tomorrow…

Edit: Still on for tomorrow, apparently. Unless it isn't, then get back. Cheers.
