NST October 2021: Fit for Purpose

I spent nothing today, however hubby spent £2 on biscuits! Will let him off, as it's one of the few pleasures he can have on his restricted diet.
Spent a lovely morning with a friend, we went for a walk on a route I've never been before. Took lots of photos of signs of autumn - wild mushrooms, rose hips - plus the view (tide very far out) & we explored an old derelict house, who's roof was a thick swathe of ivy. Very pretty growing around the glass-less window frames. Sat in her garden for an hour chatting, a v shape of 5 geese flew overhead 😍
Neighbour called round early afternoon to return some books she'd borrowed & to get some more - Thrifty's library 😂 don't mind as she occasionally buys a new book by an author we both like & I get to keep it afterwards!
Took DS3 for his second covid vaccine, then been pottering at home. Had a nice bath & finished my book. Now to choose one to take on holiday with me, will be on a train a looong time!
Grateful for the beauty of nature, good books, a dry dayUse it up, wear it out

OCTOBEROpportunitiesConsistencyThriveOne thing at a time or order out of chaos. I'm trying to apply the 'Do one thing at a time. Do it well. Move on' mantra, as I'm easily overwhelmed by so many things to do. I'm also trying to spend one minute a day on a certain area to whittle away at the chaos - and it is working!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!8

Just checked back and yesterday was NSD #8 so today will be NSD # 9.
Decided to post early as I have a 2 hour meeting coming up and will need to work late to catch up on some things I won’t be able to do during the meeting. Working silly hours at the moment but come 4.30pm on Friday I am done for the week no matter what.
Today I’m grateful for the last of the home made soup which seems to get better every day, lots of coffee as I started work at 6am and a selection of sweet treats to choose from to perk me up mid or late afternoon. That money talks I don't deny, I heard it once, it said "Goodbye"7 -
Hiya turtles.Feeling tad down my dd2 is going back to Canada probably for 2 years next week now. Haven't seen enough of her whilst she has been here due to us both working different hours. I agree food in hospitals and care homes is awful. How is that supposed to aid someone's recovery. Luckily the dementia care home my sister was in had all food cooked from scratch and they would always give the visitors tea and cake. However the other homes she was in, even with dementia could tell she was horrified by the food given to her a lot of eye rolling took place.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/227

Evening turtles. NSD today, think I'm up to 8. Also have had 8 "healthy" days where I've stuck to my eating and exercise plan so it's going OK!
Did some free studying and then fell into a wormhole of looking at professional doctorates.... Lord knows what I'm potentially getting myself into haha. Trying to think positive about work and evaluate all my options, what is going to be best for me both personally and professionally.
Had an electrician come round to fix the light switch that OH broke 6 years ago!!! Finally have a hallway light!!! Our priorities are clearly all wrong if we think it's acceptable to go that long without a working light lol. Only cost £60 so there was no excuse not to do it sooner, need to wait for the invoice to pay the man.
Also booked my covid booster, been quite anxious as I got mine back in January due to work so it's "wearing off" so to speak, so am grateful I've been able to get a slot.9 -
Finally setting out my stall rather belatedly....
Fun. Have some. Have lots! Free, if possible. - some of this month's fun has been impacted by the health of the greent-household.. However, we will make up for it!
Intellectual pursuit. - only a month into my new job so still very much in the 'knowledge acquisition' stage....!
Thankfulness – post 3+ gratitudes each day. This means you’ll check in daily. And that helps to keep you accountable. - whoops
Food – - been a bit rubbish this month in the main - mainly due to Covid
Overhaul one area. … - not so far. Waiting for (magical) half term when I will have time to achieve eleventy billion and one things on my to-do list (or maybe not!)
Read a couple of books for fun - half read two in teh past week - and abandoned them both to go in the 'out' pile. Will try again in half term
Plan this month – activities, spends - plans went awry...
Understand what brings you joy/makes you cross/improves your life. Bring more of the good stuff into your day to day life. - my family, Reading, baking
Rejoice in all the good things you have. Reduce the stuff that is not good for you. One ‘paper clip’ at a time… - a couple of bits have been sorted (books as above) Roll on half term....!
Plan for December and the winter months. - bought a present online for x day
Outside please. You know it is good for you! You also know that October is when it starts to get dark and the heating goes on and it is just so much easier to stay indoors. But turtles live outside. - nope. Will remedy this
Stop and simply be. Let the whirlwind of life pause for a while each day. I aim for a 3 min Headspace meditation each day as that is do-able. Simplify. I have also started spending 1 minute per day on an area for 1 week. It does make a surprising difference! - life has been slow this past week
Extend a hand. If you are struggling financially, then offer kindness. If you can, donate money/time/items. - big bag of items and also a box of breakables ready for CS. Bag of items for foodbank. Will also volunteer at CS in half term.
HAving caught a horrid cold in September and then passed it on to the 4 others in the house the following week I then managed to come down with C0vid last week (currently on day 8) and spent the week in bed. DH and DS2 now also have confirmed cases and DS3 has tonight tested +ve on lateral flow, so postal pcr ordered for him too.... October has so far been a non-event!
Gratitudes: sleep, my bed, wheat bags, easy food, catch up tv, chocolate, nice weather, comfy PJs
May the rest of the month be an improvement

Wishing all the greent's a speedy recovery & anyone else feeling under the weather.
Another lovely day had here. Met a friend in town for a walk, did nearly 5 miles & had a good catch up. Then visited a colleague for a couple of hours. She gave me a corner shelf unit, so I've put it in the porch & put the boys shoes on it - sick of tripping over them spread across the floor!
Had a great surprise, the ferry company I've booked for our trip on Friday now has a cancellation, so we can have a cabin to sleep in instead of a reclining chair. It's not cost us anything extra & we've even got £20 refunded!! Going to use it to go bowling, as we don't have an alley on our island. Then I received a message from a lady wanting to buy all 3 of my book bundles I'd posted on a local selling page, so more spending money for our trip 😃
Grateful for a great time with friends, getting a cabin & selling my booksUse it up, wear it out
