Hello Ex Avro customers.  I have just received some news that I am now with Octopus and that they are expecting me to pay about 25p per day standing charge for both gas and electricity so about 50p a day in total.  This is a lot!  I work away a lot and don't want to pay so much.  Also, they want me to pay £150 a month when I was paying £60 and I also had £600 quid in credit with Avro that I was fighting to get back.  Just not very impressed so far.  Anyone know if this is a normal amount for standing charges and does anyone know if there are cheaper ones out there?  Any info welcome!
My standing charge total is 52.56p and I have an Avro credit of over £171. As they have being supplying me since the 26/9/21 they haven't produced a bill for the account yet neither have I had a final bill from my Avro account which I cannot access anything but the login, all the tabs just produce a circle with no access.

Someone please tell me what money is

Please has anyone submitted a recent meter reading to Octopus and if so, have you been issued with an up to date bill yet? not sure if I should be waiting for them to contact me before submitting readings. My direct debit is due to be paid on the 8th, I appreciate it could still be weeks before any Avro credit appears on our accounts but want to try and make sure my account is as up to date as possible. Many thanks
  • I'm pleasantly surprised that my anticipated increase is what it is.  I came off a Shell Energy fixed rate where I spent £78 a month on dual fuel from September 2020 to September 2021, was anticipating the Avro fixed rate to cost me £106 a month for the same consumption, and the same consumption this year will cost £119 a month with Octopus, which is pretty much what I was being quoted for a 'Big Six' fixed rate when I looked a couple of months ago and chose Avro.

I haven`t seen anyone post that they`ve had an Octo bill.
Don`t know what your DD is going out on the 8th but Octo will only be billing you from 26th Sept.
So your DD, I would guess, will cover that period.
You can also make one off payments if needed.

Looking at my Octo account, it says they are supplying me from today for electricity and to put in a reading.
    But I`m not bothering yet.
My gas supply is supposed to be finalised on the 8th Nov.
My DD should go out on 21st Nov.
I`m just sitting tight and doing nothing for now.

I submitted meter readings for both gas and electricity on 31st October. Received separate emails from Octopus confirming receipt of each of the readings around half an hour later which state "Thank you for submitting your meter reading. We'll run it through some of our validation tests and email you an up-to-date statement in the next 48 hours".
Over 48 hours later and guess what........no statement has been produced.
I'm assured by Octopus that both my opening meter readings from the 26th September are on their system but I cannot see them but I can see my meter readings from 31st October.

You can access Avro account details from their original log-in page but you have to wait to get the info. When you've logged in to the Avro site, you should get a notice (bottom right) asking you to come back in 15 minutes. It doesn't always take that long but it might in busy periods.

Thanks Forumite, my DD is currently the same I was paying Avro £84 which I know is not going to be enough.  I am supplied from today.  I think I will make a payment of £84 into my account (the amount that would have been paid in October to Avro) and then with this DD it should well cover from 26th September.  I`ll keep reading to see anyone posts they have submitted a reading and actually got a bill, or wait for Octopus to ask for one.  Thank you

You will get some of the normal account messages that will not necessarily apply to you yet if the opening meter readings are still in the process of being agreed with the Administrators of Avro.
Just going to need to be patient a little longer if you've not yet received your final Avro bill...

I don't think anyone from Avro will be getting any statements from Octopus until Avro have issued final bills and that could take a while.

I'm just leaving it for now, they will definitely chase me at some point for readings and money.

I'm aware that the gas and electric are still being used so there will come a point in the future when it will have to be paid for. I was quite a bit in credit and I've put aside the direct debit money so when I do finally get asked to submit readings and get a bill I can hopefully cover it.
