Octopus Energy takes on Avro customers

The tariff you get from Octopus will have been agreed between Octopus and Ofgem and should be fixed for 6 months. It could increase in April 2022 but not before.glassblower12 said:Good morningI am a former Avro customer being moved to Flexible Octopus October 2021 v2.Just one question about this variable tariff - can Octopus increase the cost per kwh and standing charge beyond today's new price cap before April next year? I'm not sure whether this is considered a standard variable tariff.

When a SoLR is appointed it agrees a deemed tariff with Ofgem. The deemed tariff remains fixed for as long as the SoLR remains a SoLR which is 6 months from appointment. It follows that any ex Avro customers can expect to be notified of a tariff change c.1 March 2022. You then have 30 days to do nothing; change to another Octopus tariff or switch away.glassblower12 said:Good morningI am a former Avro customer being moved to Flexible Octopus October 2021 v2.Just one question about this variable tariff - can Octopus increase the cost per kwh and standing charge beyond today's new price cap before April next year? All that said, if Ofgem was to carryout an emergency Cap review, then it will be interesting to see whether the SoLR deemed tariff could be changed. What is self evident though is that SoLRs are losing money on capped tariffs and they undoubtedly will be making a SoLR claim against Ofgem. This will result in higher bills for all of us.

Me too lol. Not panicking though. I had changed to Avro from Igloo and completed transfer the day Avro went pfft. They will be snowed under I should think.oliverbrown said:If you think you are an Avro customer, and haven't heard from us by the end of this week, please email us on avro@octopus.energy and we will investigate.I wonder if Friday is considered the end of the week for this purpose.

Well since my switch to Avro completed recently I emailed Octopus my readings on switchover day. Hopefully Octopus will hand the readings over to my old supplier, either via Avro's systems or directly.Janey51 said:Me too lol. Not panicking though.
