Guarantee OCT will still be more expensive

I advise everyone to look for other tariffs now (dont have to switch yet) but look around. They will end up shafting us
Not exactly a huge surprise that Octopus will be more expensive than the unfeasibly low tariff you were on, that after all is why you are here now...
Instead of constantly attacking Octopus why don't you go find a cheaper tariff from another supplier capable of lasting the winter and just tell everyone about it?
None of the Octopus tariffs have any leaving penalties, so just wait a few days for your transfer to Octopus to complete and then leave.
No need to stay hear and suffer the 'shafting ' of a tariff set £10 below the Ofgem cap...

Excuse me for trying to help people save money and warn them about how expensive OCT is. I mean, just doing quotes show at least a dozen cheaper tarrifs then OCT. They should not be allowed to take over from AVRO and force us to pay their prices even if its temporary. Its funny how they havent told us what TARIFF we are on yet? Guarantee that will be the last thing they tell us, they will milk us for a month or two of our hard earned cash before

They have said what the tariff is. Perhaps you would rather be cut off and have no supply until you pick someone else. Didn't think so...

Fixed or variable? Show me a variable tariff that's cheaper than Octopus and you may have a point.
Why would u go for variable at this moment in time? Prices are going on way and that is up! Variable is a no go for anyone so before you know your bill will sky rocket
The reason to go for variable right now is they are significantly cheaper, due to the cap preventing an appropriate price being charged. The fixed tariffs available for new customers will cost substantially more for the approaching winter.
Yes they are cheaper now but you can guarantee they will sky rocket in the next month or two. The cap means nothing - all that means is to stop ridiculous prices, like the very extreme. But that does not stop variable prices shooting up and it will no doubt be more then the fixed prices come or two months time. By then the fixed prices will also increase for new customers

Looks like octopus have been generous at setting it below the cap given all circumstances, I have to say octopus so far have given better service than anyone else and I deal with a lot over many properties let’s hope them taking on such a huge cohort of customers at once won’t affect that too much long term
Just cause its below cap doesnt mean its not going to be expensive. Below cap means diddly squat
As has been said you before it’s better than anywhere else as a new customer given what’s currently happening, you obviously are angry or have an axe to grind.
No axe to grind - never used OCT ever. Just looking at their prices nothing else

The infomation is all on their page £10 below cap. If there’s so many that you switch to let’s see…..

Please explain to me what that means. £10 below cap???? It means didly squat. Stop looking at cap and look at fixed term contract that offer the cheapest tarrifs. Why do you keep mentioning caps for? Fixed contract means the price is fixed
It means what it says. Provided a household uses the assumed kWhs/year which is used when calculating the Cap, then Octopus will charge £10 a year less. Fixed tariffs offered by all suppliers are now significantly above the annual cost of a capped tariff for a given amount of energy. This is the result of  the massive increases in the wholesale price of gas. How much the Cap might rise in April 2022 is anyone’s guess. Consumers need to take a month or so to consider options - whilst they are doing so, they are not being overcharged.
£10 a year less? Is that some kind of joke when the bills are over £1000 per year. Refer to my previous post above to explain why i believe fixed prices are better even with the cap

I must have missed that? What is the tariff? can you tell me the details?

Why would i get cut off and have no supply. The whole point is choosing someone cheaper not having no energy at all

No. When a price is essentially already at the cap it DOES prevent the price shooting up, until the cap itself is increased.

If you believe that a £10 a year increase in costs is ‘skyrocketing’ then yes Octopus could give 30 days notice of that amount of increase. At the point, the tariff would equal the Cap which is ‘fixed’ until April 2022 UNLESS Ofgem decides to change the Cap to make it more representative of wholesale prices. No one is making consumers stay with Octopus. They are free to switch suppliers once Octopus has taken over the supply from Avro.
