  • I've absolutely aced it. I moved from Green to Avro on Monday. Am sure there is now going to be all sorts of hassle for me ironing the mess out. Can't get on the Green web site to see my last bill.

I've cancelled my DD just in case, I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do.

Since I'm an Avro customer and likely to be placed on a variable tarrif with a SoLR, I've been looking at fixed deals and am tempted to just go ahead and sign up with EDF.

I know Ofgem are recommending against it, but I don't see why other than it makes their administrative work perhaps a bit more difficult to tie everything up?   If I go ahead should I do it from today's date or my renewal date?  My contract expires on October 3rd.

You may find the variable tariff is a lot cheaper then any fix available now

Yes right now the variable tarrifs seem to be reasonable, but I was listening to the radio and the price cap is up for renewal within "a few months time", additionally wholesale prices are "up by 6x", so they're expecting prices to sky rocket.
Few months = 6 months. Doesn't end until April 2022
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Has anyone been able to log into their Avro account?  I have just tried and its blank of all amounts , readings and payments
I was logged in and got scrapes / captures of the account status.
I then moved onto the last statements and after i'd got them everything else is now "blank".
I'd assume they've shut down/frozen access to various backend database infrastructure to preserve it "as is".

I went from GNE to EDF. I can just see the SOLR being EDF and me ending up back there again.

My in-laws are with Avro but I have no idea if they are in credit or not. I went to log in this evening and it's all blank :(  Should I advise them to stop their DD?  What is the consequence if they are in a debit position with Avro?

    Thanks

In the same boat (blank everything) but I had a look at the OFGEM site at they Q+A, it suggests you can cancel? I have. They are quite clear what happens it seems with going to another firm. Have done meter readings though and have Augusts bill handy.

I don't have any bills for them so no idea a out the accounts actual status. I'll try and get round there to photograph the meters later.

  • I only switched to Avro yesterday, lol.  Couldn't even get on the website to submit my initial meter readings!
  • My energy supplier PFP Energy went bust during the last two weeks. I'd just like to let you know as Avro customers attempting to cancel the DD with your bank, many pfp customers (see thread) incurred a £12 charge from pfp and they won't refund it.
If you wish to cancel your direct debit, check the terms and conditions to see if you pay a penalty for this or speak with Avro directly.
You should not switch until OFGEM have announced who the new supplier is and they've been in touch with you.
