I think Octopus just want to get their tentacles on as many customers as possible and then suck the life blood out of us! :O

Octopus have no early exit fee, so as soon as the mandatory Ofgem transfer is complete you can switch if you wish for no penalty.  However, since everybody's prices are shooting up, and more of the smaller and cheaper providers will go bust, I think that the days of cheap gas and electricity are fast receding and the best option is going to be to grab a two-year fix if possible.

Don't know which thread to put this info on as there's that bloody many regarding Avro!! :*

Anyway, as of this morning, there's a new statement been generated for September for me shwoing the usual date of the 22nd and shows my updated credit balance of circa £75. I can't actually get into the statement to see if they've used the figures i provided them on the 19th as requested  but it looks about right and i can work it out anyway.

Update- i've now managed to view the statement and it looks all in order using

    https://assets.avroenergy.co.uk/MyNewAvro/Statements.aspx

and not the  old 'normal' site

  • Just to say by persevering my July and August statements became available (new site) however the statement that should have generated on 23/09 has still not been issued even though direct debits have gone out.

Avro announced they were ceasing trading on the 22nd September so it's hardly surprising that your statement due on the 23rd September hasn't been issued.
The staff were probably putting their hats and coats on and going to the Job Centre and the Director's were heading for the hills (or the Bahamas) to hide! :D

One hopeful thing from the email I received from Octopus yesterday:

"We will be in touch with your rates and charges soon, but they will be cheaper than anything available from any other large supplier today — and cheaper than the fixed prices we’re currently offering new customers on our own website."

Well it's not quite that simple. They emailed me for the meter reads Mon 20/09/2021 07:02, and they had the readings on their site within the hour on that day. The Direct Debit has gone out, presume it's automated at the bank? There must be a part of the computer system that generates the bill set to run on a given day, for the two months I've been a customer this happens to have been on the 23rd of the month, but I don't know anything about their IT infrastructure and what has happened to those reads I sent.

It's pretty irrelevant now but the date on your previous Avro statements is the anniversary of your starting supply date i.e the 23rd of each month. The email requesting meter reads is, and always has been, extremely misleading by giving you a 3 day window to submit meter reads.
To avoid them estimating your usage for the last 2-3 days of the period up to the 23rd you should have been providing meter reads actually on the 23rd of each month. Your monthly statement would normally be produced and made available to download 2-3 days after the 23rd. Avro ceasing trading on the 22nd explains why you haven't had the statement dated 23rd September.
