I had a look and found OCT very expensive. NEON REEF are even cheaper then AVRO - my previous deal which was the cheapest i found at the time anywhere and its fixedHowever, I suspect if it is a fixed rate they’re offering, the fix period will be short, perhaps just 6 months. This would allow them to increase the rates again in line with the price cap review which I understand is effective 1/4/2022. This would align to their sales pitch
and gives us up to 6 months to find another supplier.
If you were in credit with Avro it might be best to obtain a refund of the credit from Octopus and look at what they are offering before you switch elsewhere. We should hear more within the next 7 days so it’s not long to wait. If you switch before arranging the refund it could delay the refund.0 -

OCT is defo very expensive - DO NOT STAY WITH THEM.
I have already found a cheaper alternative, infact they all. It looks like i have to go for separate gas and electricity suppliers for a fixed term.
Start looking elsewhere now, OCT are very expensive and there are cheaper places out there
Only concern is - will they go bust too?
I had an email from Octopus earlier too and this is an extract from it...so I wouldn't jump just yet.
Over the next few weeks, we will transfer you to our award-winning customer service platform on one of our great value tariffs.
We will be in touch with your rates and charges soon, but they will be cheaper than anything available from any other large supplier today — and cheaper than the fixed prices we’re currently offering new customers on our own website.

I will be looking around for another supplier even if I have to get quotes from each individual site. I expected the new firm to be BG or EDF or another one of the big 6 but not Octopus.Someone please tell me what money is0

They didn't even e-mail customers or anything, just put a sneaky notice up on the site, disabled login, and did a runner. As I've not yet had a bill with them (kept asking but they refused to provide), I can't see what I owe, how much I'm in credit, what my monthly readings were or anything..
Some days you use more electric & gas than others so the usage is just an estimate.
When prices increase sometimes DC's increase to off-set the rise that the electric and gas has to increase this can be where low users are hit and high users profit from the DC's.
I always use the prices that they state on comparison sites that include VAT not from a bill that are minus VAT.Someone please tell me what money is0 -

While I understand that credit will be protected, I receive benefits and I've not seen anything said regarding Warm Home Scheme. Will we loose that or will new providers honour that because we have to be with a company by a before a certain time in order to qualify for it.
It's a worrying time isn't it? God knows how much our new bills will be. I thought I was at least safe until May next year.
Good luck everyone, I've got my fingers crossed for us all!Someone please tell me what money is1 -

I received notification from Ocopus yesterday that they are taking over my account with Avro ... a quick check on the Octopus indicates that they typicle kWh rates for Elec is almost twice the Avro rate and Gas is 2½ times ... not good!Currently, my account with Avro is almost £400.00 in credit considering this would there be a problem in providing a high meter reading to Octopus to wipe out the credit but in doing so buying my energy in advance at the old Avro rate? I imagine there are all kinds of reasons not to do it but ................0

so you are asking if it is ok to commit fraud by giving fraudulent readings in order to con the new company into billing you at the old rate?2
