Avro Energy
Hello
I am uncertain what to do. My contract with Avro expires in November 21. They have offered renewal which is cheaper than most but is it worth the paper it is written on? I have noted that as of 19th August 21, Avro are in trouble with Ofgem and been issued with a Provisional Order on 14th September 21 which compels them to provide information immediately. It is unknown what this information is. There has been no public response from Avro so far and this request from Ofgem alone does not mean they are going bust!
My quandary is that I am at present £200 in credit. This has amassed during the summer but is also a credit from previous year as Avro failed to refund me even though I asked. Then Covid hit and was unable to make any contact by phone and emails went unanswered and no bills received. If I now switch to another provider, Avro go bust, what will happen to my credit balance? Will I be deemed to be a creditor?
I would be grateful for some help in this matter on my position.

Ive decided to stick with them. I am £225 in credit and i think your credit is only protected if they go bust while you're with them.A chap from the recently failed Utility Point was on the radio today explaining that its his responsibility to inform EDF of the customer credit so that they can honour it going forwards. So i'm sticking with Avro in the hopes that when they do imminently go belly up that my money will be returned to me as a matter of course.1

Surely that can't be right??j.a.mcguire said:Ive decided to stick with them. ps- not that that i've got a huge balance there, but still.1 -
It is not right. Your credit balance is fully protected by the Consumer Levy which all consumers pay for in the form of higher bills. Customers who have already switched will get their credit balance from the SoLR - however, as they are no longer customers they tend to be at the back of a long queue.johnbhoy70 said:

I am 650 in credit with them and renewed in August
What happens now? I haven no idea about these energy firms!
Anyone help????/0 -
Your credit is protected. It will be transferred to whichever company is appointed as SoLR. Once the transfer is complete you can then opt to move elsewhere, if you wish. If you stay your credit will go into your new account with the SoLR. If you move, you will get the credit back in a few months (or possibly longer, with firms failing at the current rate).
