Nightmare situation - is it worth cancelling the DD and looking for a new supplier.
I've cancelled my DD, but I'll wait for Ofgem to tell us which supplier is going to shaft us first, before doing a switch.

It seems that staying on the SVR of the new supplier is probably going to be the cheapest deal in the market until cheaper deals are in place according to reports . That would require gas prices to come down.
  • Luckily only £9.50 in credit and screenshot taken yesterday...

I took meter readings today... As mentioned by @dar2008; "wait for Ofgem to tell us which supplier is going to shaft us first, before doing a switch."

Quick check on MSE Energy Club and they prices offered are extortionate ..... Feel really sorry for people who are currently struggling financially.

    From Ofgem’s SoLR guidance:

2.20. We will seek information on a SoLR’s proposed deemed contract rate. A SoLR’s deemed contract prices can reflect no more than the reasonable costs of supply (including costs attributable to the purchase of gas or electricity at short notice), together with a reasonable profit.

The ‘challenge’ for any SoLR is that it has to go out to the market to purchase extra energy for the new customers that it has gained. I doubt that any supplier has a cupboard full of cheap energy for 000s of new customers.
  • I had just switched from Tonik Energy when they went bust a year ago. I waited longer to get my final bill and credit refunded than customers who were still with Tonik and were transferred to a Supplier of Last Resort (SOLR). So my advice is to wait until the SOLR gets in touch, make sure you are on the best tariff available to you and get your account up to date and any excess credit refunded to you. Then consider switching if you can find a better supplier/tariff.
  • Would just like to comment, isn’t the Great Reset going great for us mere mortals!
How lovely all our dough will now revert back to all the big (globally run) companies! This is just the start.

Well I'm buggered. Switched to Avro from Igloo late July. Still waiting for August and September's bill, now they've disappeared. They only provided one actual reading to Igloo as well and used Estimated for the other, now I can't check what those were as the website won't allow login, and I only have pictures of this month's latest readings.

They didn't even e-mail customers or anything, just put a sneaky notice up on the site, disabled login, and did a runner. As I've not yet had a bill with them (kept asking but they refused to provide), I can't see what I owe, how much I'm in credit, what my monthly readings were or anything..

A GDPR request for my data would be one thing, but who to? Now that they've disappeared lol. Do I just 'trust' that Ofgen will take into account my actual readings provided, bill me properly, make sure Igloo gets the correct readings (and bills me properly so they can give me my credit back)? And also give me any credit back from Avro? Sure, that's going to happen..

Initially it will be the Receivers/or Liquidators of AVRO when they are appointed; (although they could subcontract the work out at a later stage).

  • I am in the process of moving from Igloo to Avro.  Avro took an advance payment about 7 days ago but the switch was to be completed and they would provide my gas and electric as from tomorrow.  Does that mean I’m still technically with Igloo and won’t be considered an Avro customer?  Im in credit with Igloo and have paid Avro but will not have had gas or electric supplied by them.  I’ve taken pics today of meters.
