    No one's supply will be cut off regardless of who takes them over. Yes it will cost more but it's set to go up again in April so if you're in a fixed tarrif for 2 years and no exit fees if you want to leave we are in a better position to some. 

    Remember if you are not on the tarriff you want once on Octopus you can either get changed to another of their tarriffs or go to another energy provider.

    I disagree. I maybe wrong but i believe its a legalisation that we have to be supplied gas and electric in circumstances like this so there is nothing to be thankfull for. Its what we pay for! Its not as if we are getting it for FREE. 

    The issue i have is we could be getting charged ridiculous amounts for the next bill date and there is nothing we can do about it! How should this be allowed??????

    As you have a good credit amount you should be ok, but you might not get the full amount once you switch to Octopus. Although Avro has gone bust the energy you are using since the day the stopped trading until you are being supplied by Octopus will still need to be paid for. I haven't stopped mine and I'm in credit.

    It will be a tariff with no exit fees. It will comply with the Ofgem price cap.
    As others have said, the alternative (which was ruled out years ago as unreasonable) would be for your supply to be disconnected if your supplier goes bust.

    Great! I was advised on here to cancel the DD! I guess Oct will take next month bill from the credit with Avro?

    Octopus have asked people not to cancel the DD.

    Any amounts collected from here will go to them not Avro, and will help prevent you from building up debt.

    You will pay more then what you previously paid, but that's to do with the hike in prices. You won't be ripped off because it's all monitored and regulated, so you don't need to worry about that.

    Shall i call the bank as them to reinstate the DD. Only reason i did cancel was because the advice on the forum

    Because the alternative is that you have no supply whilst you faff around doing price comparisons and waiting for the new supplier to take over the supply.

    You went with a cheap company with questionable finances, paying a little bit extra for a period is the price you pay for the gamble you took.  Realistically you'll be quids in regardless, and all the people paying the "Big 6" prices will subsidise the credit that your supplier has half-inched. I'd ask "how should that be allowed?" but I'm not sure you're all that interested in that.

    I could not have put it better. The SoLR process is designed to keep the lights on - nothing more. The Ofgem Consumer Levy was brought in to protect consumer balances. What is not in doubt is that supplier failures will cost us all a lot of money and these costs will be reflected in the next Cap review along with the massive increase in wholesale prices.
