  • No apology necessary! I work with a team who all get bonuses and I don’t as my contract is different. We all do the same job and it’s extremely annoying at bonus time for me…yet I have flexi time and work from home…so swings and roundabouts I guess 😬

Well done on the pay rise, bonus and dynamism!

You've done your last day solo in the flat with the littles, onward and upward!

Thanks Buffy - yes, it does feel like if you want something done you give it to a busy person - they do tend to procrastinate a lot.  I honestly don't know how they adult.

Thanks Alchemilla!  God, such a relief!  Yesterday was hard because I had them all day then DH is out on a thursday night so have them by myself and DC1 was playing up - must've been up and down to him about 12 times between his bed and ours (he likes to go to sleep in our bed but DC2 currently in a cot in our room so he disturbs him) - then I heard yelling and he'd somehow managed to get himself wedged under our bed!  In the end he was told "bed - now!" and he did then stay put all night.  DC2 slept through too (until 5) so we had an ok night's sleep.
  • Did an M&S shop this morning - just over £37.  Milk(!) x 4, a chinese for DH and I for tonight as it's friday, some bacon and baps to have tuesday and thursday mornings in celebration of the move, raspberries, apples, bananas and satsumas for the DC and pudding for tonight - quite expensive for what it was writing that down actually!

Have asked DH to fill car up at the cheaper garage by his mum's this arvo.  Then I will do big shop tomorrow - we need things like cloths and cleaning sprays/dishwasher cleaner to clean the flat and will just be buying convenience meals for sun - thurs as we need quick and easy - but this is a one off due to move.  So not expecting cheap but we have so much to do.

Will def be having wine tonight and watching final series of After Life.
  • Just over 130 on the big shop but included gifts for the lawyer and his team (gin and chocs respectively as he wrote off all his fees on the house that fell through in the summer), 2 x boxes of chocs for landlady and lady upstairs who has had to put up with all our noise and dirty nappy smells as she passes our door for almost a year(!) plus cleaning stuff/oven cleaner etc.  And the ready meals are just under £9 a pop.  There was also a meal deal for vals day Monday which was starter, main, side, dessert and wine for £20 so got that as we ought to make an effort mon (but are not doing gifts or cards), plus we will save the starter to have with something else for another meal.  So not a cheap shop this week but we do need quick, easy and delicious for next week given the moving and little spare time.

From next week's shop we will be able to do lots of batch cooking as we will have the freezer space - finally!

DH is making a ragu tonight which is pretty much from stores bar I had to buy garlic, stock, 2 carrots and an onion.  He's just retrieved the carpet shampooer from storage and is cleaning it.  We will no longer have £120 a month storage costs once we move, though it won't make any difference to our outgoings as our mortgage is significantly more than our rent anyway, but at least it will be going towards something.

Need to get the kids out and about today but it is freezing.  DC2 currently down for a nap.  Not yet filled car with petrol (DH said it was rammed yesterday arvo) so need to do that also.  We watched the Tinder Swindler last night - my goodness!

DH was in touch with our vendors yesterday.  The movers apparently packed all their stuff Thursday and took it then did the large furniture yesterday so reckon they must be out by now.  Really hoping they (or cleaners) give it a good clean as that will save us lots of time and effort.

Feel like this purchase has been straightforward really (obvs once they found somewhere, and as we know the search itself was just terrible) and they have been lovely people to deal with.  But also hoping they've found us good to deal with as we've just got on with it and not tried to haggle over anything.
