Good luck today. It is normal to feel nervous. It’s a big think to move but worth it in the end. Enjoy the space xxslowly working towards being MF one small over payment at a time :T3

Good luck with the move. Takeaway food this week will be worth it for the sake of your sanity.3

Of course its ok to be nervous, house moves are one of the biggest single day projects we do. We all get there in the end and lists are your friend3

Good luck for the move and hope all goes well. It is nice you have actually got to completion on this one. I think some anxiety is to be expected given the setbacks you have had.

Anxiety is oh so normal and especially when such a big thing going on. Remember:
Be kind to self.
Lists are your friend (head doesn't have to remember it all)
and Rome wasn't built in a day.
I recommend Google's keep note for tick box lists as I've recently downloaded it and am in the process of transferring all my notebook lists to it.
Don't rush to fill the house with the perfect things. We did that as our old solid furniture didn't fit (flogged it). We only brought cheap Ikea but have changed a few things already in the 4 years as we're never happy with the rushed items. We are slowly replacing with good quality pieces that will last but as they cost £££ it takes time.Dedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

O I thought it was today!
Feeling nervous is totally rational, it is a big thing you are doing!
So long as you have beds, a kettle and milk you are good to go so much love to you so so happy you are moving XXXXXXXXXNevertheless she persisted.3 -
Thanks all! Phew, well, what a day! So we completed and got the keys really early (930) went to the house with 2 car loads to see what was what. We saw the vendors today (as this is what happens here) and they said they'd cleaned. They are nice people but their idea of cleaning must be different to mine as it has taken me pretty much all day until now (bar nipping for a sarnie and another carload) to clean the kitchen! Inside quite a lot of the cupboards were pretty manky so in the end I used quite a lot of Zoflora! Did all the surfaces and wall tiles but the surfaces still seem dirty so going to have another crack tomorrow.
DH shampooed carpets in lounge, dining room, our room and DC1's room - he said they were pretty grim, esp the ones upstairs. And it also appears that the heating upstairs is not working(!) So have left those rooms to dry overnight and will head back tomorrow. DH will have a play about with the heating and see what's what. He seems relaxed about it and said "this is what you get with old properties"
A friend is dropping by first thing with stairgate and a table and chair that we can strap DC2 into as he now tries to climb out of his highchair which stresses me out! Same friend gives me loads of her DC's clothes as he is about 2 years older than mine. It's really very good of her.
The house itself really does need some TLC though apart from the major works we want to do to create a kitchen/diner/family room, most of it is cosmetic stuff that DH can do (he is very good at DIY/painting). However @moving_forward - very good tip - apart from the playroom, we are just using all the furniture we already have - it's a total mismatch of things but because we want to sort the kitchen/diner/family room there is no point having nice furniture anywhere until that is done due to dust etc. We are going to just paint the lounge in the interim because it's pretty gross and because we can do it ourselves, that will be relatively cheap. Plus, no point getting new sofas until the DC are a bit older given there are wee wee and milk accidents a lot at the minute!
My back is killing and I am exhausted. Got to pick DC1 up at 5 and will shower whilst they are having dinner as my hair really feels disgusting and needs a wash. Then a Charlie Bigham's lasagna (love this) and a glass of red I think!
Tomorrow will be another full on day - mainly moving stuff (movers come thursday to do the rest but we want to get as much out of here as possible so it's as quick as possible), architect coming for an initial discussion/look, need to order play equipment as we forgot today and also a B&Q run to get a bolt for the garden gate so DC can't get out and a few lightbulbs which have gone and not been replaced.
Thank you all for all your lovely well wishes!6 -
And take a deep breath out and relax xDedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

Moving house can be a real culture shock. At least most light bulbs were working. Many years ago when I moved down south the house I moved into had all the lightbulbs removed, I'd never come across that before. Not great when dusk was due in minutes. Seems it was the norm down there.

Don't look at the big picture... one step at a time is the way to go.
Sending (((hugs))) and calming thoughts in your direction. XXXI Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy2
