I’m SO excited for you, it’s so close now! And I think this is a situation where throwing money at the problem (ie with lots of lovely easy to eat food) is by far the best solution. Lovely lawyer for writing off the earlier fees too.Debt at LBM (Dec 2018): £23,167

We've not yet left house as DC2 still down. So going to have lunch first then park I think for DC1 and I will take DC2 for a walk in the buggy. Also need to nip to town to get thank you cards and handwash.
So tired today as we drank too much wine last night. That's it now until next friday!3 -

I think I am almost as excited as you are about your move, after all your ups and downs the end is finally in sight. It will be so lovely to see the DC's running wild in the garden. All the very best for the move x4

So, plan today was to take DC1 to park and DC2 for a walk but the weather was shocking! Windy and rainy! So, we went for a drive, dropped the cat at the cattery and then went to garden centre (which has a climbing thing and slide) but inevitably resulted in food and coffees! Grabbed more milk, bread and fruit on way back.
Cat will stay in cattery until friday now so we've been able to empty and pack away his litter tray, bowls etc. Now just chilling with a cup of tea whilst DC2 naps and looking online at things we'd like for the garden (but waiting until we are in). Will probs go to MIL this arvo just to get out.
Managed to get ourselves a free fruit cage from a local growing club so DH will collect next week. I'd like to grow blueberries as I make a blueberry and lemon cake which is so nice. There are already wild blackberries, raspberries and a cherry tree at the house but we are going to add to that with more raspberries and stawberries (the strawberry plants we already have as we'd managed to keep them going at MIL's house from our old house) and possibly try apricots too. I also like a raspberry and assam tea loaf so will be good for that!
Tonight is a Charlie Bighams butter chicken with some mini piadina breads and the pud we were going to have for valentine's day.
Am actually going to go into office tomorrow because even if I catch covid I won't get symptoms until a few days in - so going to head in as is easier to work there plus I need cards from town and to move our rubbish car.
Ordered a hand whisk with vouchers. Am so looking forward to being able to bake again - I used to bake loads but stopped in the rentals as no room for all our things.
Sorry, lots of drivel and disconnected thoughts from me today - only 1.5 days to go!!!!!4 -
I can feel the excitement, its lovely and so close now
I have everything crossed for a smooth move. It will feel unreal for a while having space and being able to make noise without worry or guilt, and to park your cars and to have a garden.
When we last moved, we were so excited, we found the energy to spontaneously ask the whole family round on moving in day for a takeaway and drinks just to share the joy. Thank goodness for well labelled packing boxes to fish out the plates, glasses and booze. The house was spotless, new pin spotless, so we traded cleaning for sharing which was lovely.3 -
Today is the day and I feel anxious and sick. I can't seem to get over the fact we totally sold at the wrong time so missed out on the rise in prices, incurred loads of expense, wasted rent and hassle and then got beasted on the price of this house on the way out. I'm nervous in case it's not all we think it is and overwhelmed at the amount we have to get done to actually get out of here completely and set up there. Is this normal?! I mean, of course I don't want to stay here whatsoever but I just feel anxious rather than excited.
Spent a little bit yesterday - DC1 needed a new toothbrush and they both needed toothpaste and I needed tights. Then, because I didn't really buy sandwich making stuff in this week's shop, I treated myself to a southern fried chicken, sweet chilli and grated cheese baguette! Then DC needed fishfingers and DH asked me to pick up pudding.
So this morning we go and do what we need to do here to complete. Nursery have offered to have DC1 today so MIL only has to have the 1. Not sure if they are charging us....I'm going to drop DC1 at nursery and MIL picking DC2 up then DH will load both cars with stuff. Plan is to go straight to house with 2 car loads and see what state it's in and whether we need to do a massive clean or just shampoo the carpets, then crack on with whatever we need to do for the morning. Quick sarnie lunch from a local shop then I am hoping we will be able to (or one of us) start bringing more car loads of stuff. Even though we've booked movers we want to do quite a bit ourselves as the floors here are unstable(!). DH also got to pick up the fruit cage we have snagged for free (and, as is the way of island life, I know the lady's husband!) and we need to measure up outside and go and order the kids' play equipment.
We are spending a bit on the play equipment (a trampoline and a swing/slide/lookout tower combo) but they've been cooped up without outside space for so long, this is our gift to them.3
