    1. ""2.3.2  at least two active Direct Debits in place on the Qualifying Account;""

    Sorry if this has already been answered earlier, but does the above mean that if you already have 2 D/Ds in your existing Santander account, the transferred-over old account doesn't need to have 2 D/Ds?

    You are wondering whether having 2 active direct debits fulfils the requirement to have 2 active direct debits? :)

    What does "set up at least 2 active Direct Debits" mean?

    Does it count if, on day 60,

    a) there are two active DDs that were already on the Santan account?
    b) two DDs were set up by the CASS?
    c) two new DDs need to be manually set up after the switch completion?
    I would certainly say b & c were qualifying. a) is more doubtful if they were already on the account as they wouldn't have been "setup" after the switch despite being active
    You could revisit the terms, which are helpfully linked on page one, which will clarify the DD requirement.

    The only reason I asked is because the terms are ambiguous.

    Wondering if anybody knows can the £1000 be paid from my other Santander account?

    no you cannot its in the t&c
    Sorry if i have missed something, but where in the terms of the switch does it state it needs to be from an external account, as they state:
    1. 2.3  Within 60 days of you instructing us to start the switch to the Qualifying Account, you will also need to have:

      1. 2.3.1  successfully completed the switch, which includes closing the account not held with us;

      2. 2.3.2  at least two active Direct Debits in place on the Qualifying Account;

      3. 2.3.3  funded your Qualifying Account with at least £1,000 (either by one or more deposits); and

      4. 2.3.4  logged onto Santander Online or Mobile Banking at least once.

        I have not seen anywhere else that specifically states cannot be from a Santander account that the £1k must be paid in from? I have paid mine in from an external account anyway, but cannot see any where it explicitly states this.

    Yeah according to the terms they are wrong.

    Active direct debits are usually ones setup or taken in the last 12/13 months, after that I guess they become inactive.

    I would phone them if you are unsure, then if they give you bad advice then you can complain and get compensation.
    That's not what active means. Active just means that they are due to be taken out the following month.
    Philw and The Green Horne are correct. Active does not just mean that they are due the following month (for example that would rule out many quarterly and annual direct debits). A direct debit is active from the point when it is set up before the first payment is taken and usually becomes inactive after 12-13 months if no payment is taken (as noted above). I looked into this issue a number of years ago for a couple of bank switch incentive offers that required ‘active direct debits’ and both banks involved confirmed that the above was correct.
    Thanks. Although Philw is not correct as it's true that being "setup or taken in the last 12/13 months" is necessary and sufficient for being active.

    But I understand the point better now.

    The terms are not ambiguous.
    You don't say where you got the words 'set up', but it was those that introduced the ambiguity, and they are not used in the terms.

    Does the £1,000 pay in need to stay there until cashback is paid, or can it just be paid in and taken out the next day?

    And should it be done after switch but before the 60 days is up, or can it be done in the period between requesting a switch and the switch actually taking place?

    No requirement for it to be there any length of time, as long as you have had that much deposited by the date of the check the current balance is not relevant.

    can the DDs be set up after you've applied for the switch (and within 60 days) or do they have to exist in the a/c you're switching from?
