Santander £130 switch offer

As above.  Key points:

"For new and existing customers

Get £130 cashback when you switch a current account you hold elsewhere to one of our selected current accounts, using the Current Account Switch Service.

To qualify for the offer, within 60 days of telling us to switch your account, you’ll need to:

  • have successfully completed the switch, which includes closing the account not held with us
  • set up at least 2 active Direct Debits
  • pay in £1,000, and
  • log on to Online or Mobile Banking."

Full terms: https://www.santander.co.uk/assets/s3fs-public/documents/switcher_cashback_terms_and_conditions_sep21.pdf

Note:
"2.2 You and everyone to be named on the Qualifying Account will need to:
2.2.1 be a UK resident;
2.2.2 not have previously received or participated in any other incentive for switching to any of our accounts or any account with cahoot or"
[...]

2.2.2 presumably rules out anyone who took advantage of the Santander Amazon switch offer.

    Seems a good offer

2.1 You need to have instructed us to start a full switch from a personal current account not held with us, cahoot or Cater Allen (‘Old Account’) to a new or existing 1I2I3, 1I2I3 Lite, Everyday, Select, or Private Current Account held with Santander UK plc using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS) on or after 13 September 2021 and before the Switcher Offer is withdrawn,
  • For some reason if you want to switch into an existing account you have to visit a branch.  I don't know where my nearest branch is anymore as Santander keep closing them.

Will try opening a new account online and switch a donor account into it.  I'm not sure I am eligible for the bonus but I have donor accounts to spare and it should take only a few minutes.

Am I being cynical in Santander requiring me to visit branch ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

It's just as well that they didn't require this for the 2019 Amazon offer!
  • During the Amazon bonanza I didn't have an account with Santander so I couldn't switch to them, but I retained online banking access from when I held one previously so I was able to generate referral codes and managed to refer a few people. I've since opened another account with Santander (before they nerfed the 123 Lite account into the ground) and I've got a few spare donor accounts sitting around so I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I'd prefer not to have to make a branch visit though...

Wasn't the Amazon offer 'Refer a friend' though, rather than an 'incentive for switching'...?

Do the DD's need to be in place on the donor a/c, or set up afterwards on the new a/c (within 60 days)?

Either but must (cetainly best, IMO) be still in place at time switch bonus paid.

The safest bet would be to have them set up on your donor before you start the switch, but you're right in pointing out that the offer wording seems to suggest that as long as it's done within the first 60 days then it should be okay
