You don't have to visit a branch if you open a new qualifying account, however if you don't have a DC number for your 'Old Account' then that's visit branch.

And for the people who have a stack of TSB CAs in hand for switching, watch out for debit cards that have expired.. if they haven't been used for a while you may not be able to order replacements on line - branch visit for that, too.

    Thanks to the op.
New Santander account opened as an existing customer. £1000 paid in.
Two DDs set up on donor account and switch initiated.
Hopefully £130 to add to the recent 3 x £125 from Nationwide and the £100 from Lloyds.

When you say 'two DDs set up.....' Do you mean you've somehow done them immediately or were they already on the donor account?

    • "We’ll take care of your switch, using the Current Account Switch Service. 60 days after you tell us to switch your account, we’ll check to make sure you are eligible and then pay £130 cashback into your account within the next 30 days.".
    Could be a long one.....

    Neither.
To be more clear what I have done is requested 2 DDs to be set up on the donor account. They will pay out  on 22nd of this month.
I have requested the switch to start on the 24th of this month.
Reading the T+Cs of this offer it appears to that you do not have to have 2 DDs switched to the new account you only need 2 active DDs in place 60 days after the switch but I set them up anyway just in case.

Has anyone recently switched from Tesco? Is there still a long delay?
  • Hi, I’ve read the info on this offer a few times and I don’t know if I’m reading it correctly. I have two Santander accounts at the moment - a 123 and an everyday account.

Can I go to a branch and switch my everyday account to a 123lite account and get the bonus?

    Thanks

    No.
You have to switch in a account from a bank other than Santander.

Thanks. That makes sense. So the existing customer just means it’s ok to already have a Santander account?
