During the Amazon bonanza I didn't have an account with Santander so I couldn't switch to them, but I retained online banking access from when I held one previously so I was able to generate referral codes and managed to refer a few people. I've since opened another account with Santander (before they nerfed the 123 Lite account into the ground) and I've got a few spare donor accounts sitting around so I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I'd prefer not to have to make a branch visit though...
If you didn't do a switch, you didn't get a switching bonus... I'd be pretty certain you'd qualify.
But they participated in the switching offer by receiving an incentive for referring others...

Wonder what they're getting at here:

"We reserve the right to not make any Cashback Payment where we suspect or are made aware that the Switcher Offer is being abused, for example, by closing an Old Account to switch back to us to receive the Cashback Payment."

Yep I recognised that after I revisited the wordingd and decided that I'm not 'pretty certain...', so deleted the post. I'm sure it's worth testing their intention in the wording though if it ain't a lot of bother - ie you've got a donor and can generate the DDs.

There's a definition of Old Account, an account that is a legacy in the Santander stable. Not well worded though..
Changed my mind: 'Old Account' is words they're using for the account you're switching into Santander

I don't get why you'd need to close an Old Account to benefit from the offer though, let alone why it would be abuse of it.

Already have a Santander account with 5 DDs.

Am I right in thinking to get the offer, all I need to do is switch a current account to my existing Santander and pay in £1000 or would I need to set up 2 DDs on the donor account before the switch?

Visit a branch, switch an account in and pay in £1k. Direct debits don't have to be switched.

No, nor me. I've edited the post you quoted, to clatify clarify which makes no material difference to the question.

The word 'back' would seem to be superfluous if it wasn't important?
    eta typo
