    Thanks for your info

I don't really want to change banks.  I wondered if I could move from the Select account to 123 account.  I was really wondering if I could get the £130  offer
    Thanks again

    In a word then, no.

Switch needs to be from an external provider.

    Sorry

I have just seen this tonight on ML weekly email.
I have had a Santander Select ?? Current account for good no of years.  I have not moved to the 124 lite account as I still get a tiny bit of interest each month. I think this month just over £5 for which I pay £4.
Am I able to move down to the lite account and get this £130
Currently I will be spending around £12,000 from my account to pay for some home furnishings. When this happens I will have reduced the amount in my present account .
    Advice would be appreciated

You need an account with a different provider from which to switch (not Santander, cahoot or Cater Allen). Monzo and Starling are the most convenient options for opening new accounts as they are fast and do not conduct hard searches. You can then either apply for a new 123 Lite account and switch to it, or change your Select account to a 123 Lite account and switch into it.

Instant access savings accounts offer higher interest than what you're currently receiving with your Select account.
Are Monzo and Starling part of the switching scheme? If so that would be great as it would avoid me to open another donor account with a main bank.

    Perfect, thanks.

I have just opened a Monzo account as Starling was asking for £2 for an additional account.

once I get the card I can then go in branch to to the switch and add the DD later to my existing Santander account, right?

Under this theory, a DD would have been active at Santander for switching purposes if it has been active for at least one day while under Santander's watch,
My understanding is they don't want you to switch DD in and then instantly move them to another account.

Which is why they wait. If they didn't, then you can be sure a lot of people here would take advantage.

Bit more time now as Santander’s website says the offer has been extended to 2 December.

Just opened a secondary santander everyday current acc, and instructed a switch from hsbc that has 2 existing d/ds.

2nd acc showed up straight away on my app with sort code and acc #,very easy and took about 5 mins.

Tried to transfer £1000 immediately from hsbc but got the "santander"account not recognised  pop up from hsbc, will transfer it in the morning.
Not that i need to but would £1000 deposit be acceptable from another santander acc or does it have to be from external sources like most other switch offers?

Just reading the t and c for the first time and now see that I don’t actually need to do anything in terms of direct debits as already have more than 2 active ones on existing Santander account I’m switching into. (Guessing this has been mentioned already on this thread.)

Was thinking I might need to before reading t and c as on their website it says ‘set up at least 2 active direct debits’ within 60 days.

Yep, so there IS a disparity in the words. But T&Cs should trump any other statements.
