I requested my switch to complete yesterday - and it did. The old account has been closed, the balance transferred over, and the direct debits taken with it. So that's all the criteria satisfied - shall now wait for my payment, thank you very much!

Phoned Santander Select this morning to transfer my Nationwide a/c into an existing Santander everyday current a/c. I got through straight away, only to be told switching into an existing a/c can only be done in branch.  That's contrary to what others have posted on here.

I then phoned the standard number for Santander on 0800 912 3123, and after waiting just 5 minutes, I got through to their switching department. I gave my donor a/c details and was informed my switch will complete on Tuesday 19th.

Not sure what that says for their Select service, but it does go to show a little perseverance is certainly required with some of these call centres.

I'm an existing FlexDirect current account holder with Nationwide.

Would it be considered as taking the mick if I was to open one of their basic current accounts, transfer some funds into it, leave it for 5 days then request a switch via online banking with Santander to switch into their Everyday current account (also an existing customer of Santander with 123 CA)?

As I understand it, once the switch has been completed, I could setup 2 DDs on Santander and transfer in £1000 to qualify for the incentive?
