Chase UK discussion

I didn't post this to start a list of retailers at which you can get cashback but in response to your claim that it pretty much looks like anything that could be a large purchase would not qualify for cashback. As per my real life examples, it's pretty clear that the cashback isn't limited by the purchase amount but by the category the retailer is in.sebtomato said:Not that helpful to anyone. You don't want to tell people what sort of purchase they were, so people can know those items would qualify for cashback??
Conversely, a small purchase amount doesn't guarantee cashback. Say you deposit £50 or £250 a month into a savings or investment account with your debit card, you won't get any cashback because such 'purchases' are on the excluded list.0 -
Similar dilemma for me, as I use OB based budgeting/management apps.400ixl said:One thing I have been looking at is whether Chase UK are supporting the open banking standards so that you can connect up and consolidate the views of your accounts. From what I can see they are not doing this and spoken to a few 3rd party companies yesterday and they all say that Chase are being very un-cooperative on this front.
May not be a feature too many use, but for me is another reason why I will only use it for a savings account which changes infrequently and stick with other more feature rich current accounts.
1% cashback Vs manual entry into budget app...0 -
A 20 grand HiFi system from Richer Sounds would, for example, get you £200 cashback.0

Probably mentioned somewhere in 69 pages but since sensitive souls will get emotional if I don't use this thread to ask the question .....Anyone having trouble with Google Pay contactless & Chase? Not all the time but frequently it gets rejected on 1st attempt for me & says something along the lines of card invalid or card not supported. Then it always works on 2nd attempt.0

Has anyone successfully setup a Virgin Media direct debit on their Chase account? It doesn't seem to like my details. I wonder if it's because it's too close to my direct debit date or if they have not got their system setup with Chase's sort codes.

I have had that with Google Pay (and a card other than Chase) at one supermarket. Also, it seems to require 10 seconds of physical contact with my phone to complete a successful transaction. I assume it is down to the type of card reader they use. Seen nothing like it anywhere else, where a 1-2 second hover will suffice.

Nearly all my Chase spending is done using Google Pay, I've never seen that.JustAnotherSaver said:Anyone having trouble with Google Pay contactless & Chase?0 -

Apple Pay and chase working nicely here.0

My experiences.
All card purchases over last 7 months have been going onto a cashback credit card via Curve and Google Pay. After just under 30 days, I switch the purchases to Chase via the Curve go back in time feature and get the 1% cashback from Chase when I do that. Happily, *the credit card usually still pays cashback as well* despite the transaction amounts being refunded to the credit card! Perhaps because the refund can take a while. And my card T&C don't seem to allow cashback to be reclaimed in these circumstances (card provider deliberately not named).
Oh, and Chase have told me we can
*use the 1.5% Chase Saver account for direct Debits*! Unfortunately, you cannot switch them all in via CASS yet, but worth doing them individually for the higher paying ones such as council tax and ["ahem"] energy bills...0
