I’ve noticed that payments going into my chase account are going in almost instantly now. Before when I transferred from my main account it would take a minute or 2 to appear in the account. Has anyone else noticed this?

Basically, any large purchases are excluded from cashback:

    Investments
    Council tax
    University fees
    Car purchase and maintenance
    Etc.

So it's about grocery shopping, purchases on Amazon, purchases from shops, gym memberships etc.
What purchase was it? For Chase, it pretty much looks like anything that could be a large purchase would not qualify for cashback...
Best to refrain from posting utter nonsense that you've just made up. The list is quite clear and there's absolutely no suggestion from Chase that larger purchases are disqualified from cashback

Back at you. Maybe actually learn how to read. I wrote that, given the long exclusion list, many typical large purchases would be excluded, e.g. car purchase and maintenance, investments, tax etc.

Therefore, might be useful to come up with a list of what can be included, as exclusions are quite long.

    What you actually said:

And once more: it is not the case that cashback is excluded "for anything that could be a large purchase"

Some large purchases are excluded but so are some small ones.

I've highlighted what you've put. Take a minute to read and understand your non-ambiguous, crystal clear statements

    Both of which are false/untrue.

The list of inclusions will be much longer.

Let me correct my statement, as I can see some people can easily be confused with not much: many "items" that are typically large purchases are excluded from cashback, as you would expect from any respectable bank.

They are of course not going to give cashbacks on car purchases and maintenance, university fees, taxes or investments etc., which are typical transactions involving large amounts for normal people...

Doesn't mean you can buy an expensive TV and get cashback, but it means many people won't have opportunities to make much money from cashback (as intended by the bank).

Here is my attempt to bring some clarity (and something useful in this thread).

I guess it includes (disclaimer! list not exhaustive):
    • Purchases in shops (physical goods), e.g. grocery shopping, TVs, white goods
    • Purchases online (physical goods or digital goods), e.g. Amazon
    • Online subscriptions, e.g. Netflix, Spotify
    • Holidays/travel e.g. hotels, flights, public transports
    • Food and drinks, restaurants and pubs
    • Gym memberships
    • Car fuel or cleaning
    • Water, gas/electricity, broadband, mobile bills
But of course, when it comes to items you could spread payments for and pay by Direct Debit (like utility bills, water and electricity), you might be better off keep your money on the 1.5% savings account instead rather than paying in advance and only getting 1% back.

I have a question on round ups.

A couple of days ago I paid £5.50 for bus tickets via contactless. On the Chase app it registered as £0.10, which is how many remote systems initially confirm a card before claiming the full amount later.

My Chase app rounded this up to £1 and put £0.90 in my round up account. Today though, the full £5.50 is in my current account and the round up account but the round up account has not been adjusted.

Also, my main account has a balance including pennies, whereas previously it had always been round pounds.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

PS. I recognise that this is just discussing minutiae, but system anomalies do interest me.
