It's good news that they will potentially support direct debits soon. I'm not quite sure why it's a topic worth 2 pages of an argument about, but still.2

Does anyone know if the numberless card has some internal number that doesn't change when the number is changed in the app?Let me try to explain what I'm thinking of. If I purchase something in store, to refund it they will only refund to the same card that the product was paid with.If I change the card number in the app, will the number change on the card as well? Not sure how/if that's technically possible as usually the chip cannot be re-written? And the card is (should be) offline anyway? So if I try to return an item after the number was changed, would the card be recognised as the same one?Thank you.0

And HSBC are a gang of criminals but, if they offered me a savings account with 3% interest, I'd be in like shot.OceanSound said:Chase embroiled in another racism case across the pond (in U.S.):
THis isn't a one-off. Chase has a history (with employee discrimination too):

"To help keep your account secure, in-store payments use a different set of card details to the in-app details you use to spend online."
So yes, there is an underlying card number.0 -
March for Direct Debits apparently.

It looks like they have listened and action on the feedback received on their own forum with regards to Rewards (cashback offers), saving & investments as well as the DD. What is now missing is one sort of message about entering or not the UK Credit Card market. It will obviously not be sustainable for them to offer the level of rewards that their US card operations offer but perhaps they could take over the Hotels and Other Travel credit cards options from the like of Barclaycard (Hilton), Creation (IHG), and Discover (Lufthansa), all more or less discontinued/not open to new applicant. the level of rewards may be minimal and/or require some sort of annual fee, but could still work for some.wiseonesomeofthetime said:March for Direct Debits apparently.

It is very naive for many of the Chase forum user to threaten to leave unless the cashback at 1% is retained, as it is clearly not sustainable and it was simply a strategy to gain an initial customer base (an alternative to the £100-150 other banks throw around in CASS offers). I would be very happy if they keep the FOREx free spending with persons 0.5% cashback (although I think 0.25% is more likely)0 -
It would be equally naive to think people will continue to spend with a nil cashback debit card when they can get 0.5%, or even 1%, cashback on their credit cards. I might not close my Chase account at the end of my cashback period but I won‘t bother with loading it in order to use the debit card.Marchitiello said:

I might switch my DDs if Chase pay more cashback on DDs than I get at Santander.I might also consider a Chase credit card if it offers more than the ones I already have. But the likelihood that I will ever have all my current and credit card accounts with a single bank is next to zero.5 -
The thing to note is that not everyone will be using a credit card, and I've noticed mostly Monzo being used in university by friends and other students.
I don't know of any of the rewards based credit cards that offer insights on spendings and such, so for people trying to budget and see where their money is going, Chase is an alternative to Monzo or Starling.
So yes, after the 1 year cashback promotion ends, I think a fat percentage of people will move onto something else when you consider that 76% of people said yes to using cashback. Now with DDs, Chase will just be like Monzo or Starling after the cashback promotion ends but I think they'll regularly offer cashback offers like how other banks do.

For me its handy to keep my "bricks and mortar" current account for my direct debits and I move all my disposable income into my Chase as it then tells me straight away what I have left to spend, I admit once the cashback ends it makes no odds if I move it to my Monzo instead.1
