Chase UK discussion

When was the notification sent? I didn't receive it. Nor did I receive any information that becoming part of the direct debit beta is dependent on joining the Chase community.
The tweet I posted in my previous post doesn't allude to that fact either, unless of course the notification about Chase community was sent after the 26th January and Chase staff on Twitter were unaware of it when they tweeted that tweet.0 -

Do you understand what Beta Testing/Tester is? I will give you source and explanation this time : GoogleBeta testing is a type of user acceptance testing where the product team gives a nearly finished product to a group of target users to evaluate product performance in the real worldYou will know soon once this is released to everyone. Many discussed about DD here so thought to share something that it is coming and in Beta testing phase (which I don't have to tbh)
Where did you see/hear/experience (through some other sense) that Chase is launching beta direct debits? Some banks announce beta's like this:
https://businesstech.co.za/news/software/397995/bank-zero-to-launch-public-beta-in-the-second-half-of-2020/
I don't suppose you have such a link?
Sharing something that is due to be released is good. It'd be also good if there is some background. I can understand if you heard through a 'friend' who works at Chase. But then, how come Chase doesn't announce this to the public? There is no real benefit to Chase in keeping this under wraps.I dont think this is yet available for outsiders or notification has been sent, they are rolling out in phases. I dont want to disclose if I got the email or I heard from my friend, I may breach their T&C. They wont share half cooked items, also they already mentioned on the twitter that it will come soon, so I suppose they will notify once they know it worked well and had positive outcome in beta testing. If yo are this interested then reach out to support and they will be happy to asisst you.0 -
I doubt that many outfits announce their beta testing openly. Why would they and why should they? There may be loads of stuff in beta that there is no need for general customers to know about. Most of everything probably. And beta testers shouldn't (unless told they can) be talking about what they're doing.OceanSound said:

A few firms obviously do brief, often in a round-about way, about some beta projects but I can't see why any of us should expect to be told about all or even most developments that haven't yet happened (and possibly might never happen - depending on how the beta goes).

Who say's? The terms and conditions? Didn't think so. Also, no one's been 'talking about what they are doing'. They've just said a beta program is under way.

Huh? No one's asking to tell us about developments that haven't happened. I.e direct debits.. I wasn't told about how to join the beta. Someone said earlier that we need to become a member of the chase community.0 -
You only get their Marketing emails if you subscribed to them, or other emails if you haven't unsubscribed from them (via your email account). I did, because I got bored with receiving emails to advise me that a new statement was available. I am perfectly capable of looking up a statement if I need one (which I do once in a blue moon), and really don't need to be reminded regularly. I appreciate that some people might like to be reminded, and that's fine. There should be an appropriate option in Settings for users to control what communication they get.masonic said:As far as I'm aware, every customer received a notification about the "Chase Community" and an invitation to join it. If you want an insight into trial features before they are launched, you would need to join.
Chase now send me a monthly text, every time they produce another statement, to say they tried to email me but couldn't 🤣🤣🤣
If it wasn't for the cashback, I would already have left them, and I will do so at the end of the cashback, unless it gets extended, or some other market-leading features of actual monetary value (e.g. better DD cashback than Santander) become available.2 -
Is it just me, or is beta testing the provision of direct debits an incredibly underwhelming project?
And then, for good measure it becomes shrouded in secrecy and controversy!4 -
You've read the T&C of every beta testing project? I haven't. I was just suggesting that it is likely (and this would be very reasonable for many projects) that many beta testers are told not to mention what they're doing. If you have actual long experience and knowledge about the broad spectrum of beta testing secrecy terms do tell. I'm merely suggesting what is likely.OceanSound said:

But I'm out of this particular element of the discussion now. I shouldn't rise to the bait! As RG2015 points out above the subject (beta testing DDs) is hardly worth getting excited about!2 -
It could be seen as merely speculating, not 'just suggesting'!Zanderman said:

I doubt chase is competent enough to have covered all the bases as you've assumed!

Chase embroiled in another racism case across the pond (in U.S.):
THis isn't a one-off. Chase has a history (with employee discrimination too):
And committing money to tackle racial discrimination:
https://apnews.com/article/race-and-ethnicity-small-business-charlotte-jamie-dimon-racial-injustice-3cf34a097380b3b0813a52994fbce648If we were to cut Chase some slack as they are just starting out in UK, there is no explanation for this - after all they are well established in the U.S.1 -
To be honest I could not care less. All I care about is the service they provide within reason.
Are you suggesting UK customers should leave the bank over isolated incidents?1
