It's variable DD so I thought it was monthly or quarterly that they took billed and took the money? If you are correct then I've got the wrong idea, perhaps because I've got more than one SOLR on the go.

I'm okay with receiving a statement every 6 months but I want payment to be taken more frequently. I get 2% Cashback on the direct debit but there's a threshold of a fiver a month on Cashback in that category.
  • Hi,
keep a wee spreadsheet, to keep an eye on usage and cost.

  • Hello All,

    Newbie here.

I don't know if anyone can offer me some advice.

I got my final bill from PfP Energy last month saying I am in owe them (in debit) of £0.11 and that British Gas will be in contact soon to arrange payment.

I contacted British Gas but the information had not been passed over to them, at the time.

I left British Gas in October 2021 for Together Energy as British Gas's customer service is non-existent. Sadly Together Energy also went bust back in January 2022 so I ended up back with British Gas again, under the SOLR process by Ofgem.

I've not had an outstanding bill in this type of situation before and as I'm quite Depressed, I don't want debt recovery or something like that to start in the near future.

I'll try calling BG tomorrow morning but with the love of God try to get through to someone on their really awful customer services phoneline.

I also wanted to know for those still on the Price Promise April 2022, what is the new tariff for you'll from May. I looked on BG's website but could not find anything out on their PFP Updates.

Sorry, if I can't respond straightaway, I'm still trying to work how the site works and unwell at the moment.

    Many thanks,

    MoneyPluto

    Hello
I hope you have been able to contact BG so they can put your mind at rest.

This is the link to BG's tariffs on their website.

    https://www.britishgas.co.uk/GetAQuote/tariff-information

My understanding is that if you do nothing you will roll onto BG's standard variable tariff (SVT) from May.  Your standing charge amount and amount per unit depends on a number of things such as where you live; what method you use to pay etc.  I have set up a monthly fixed DD so my figures for the SVT (including VAT) are:

    standing charge 48.127p per day
    unit charge 27.865p per kWh

Your figures may be slightly different.

    I hope that helps.

My final PFP bill was correct when it arrived and the credit eventually showed up in my closed British Gas account, having left them in November. Credit has been sat there around 6 weeks and I finally got round to getting in touch, the friendly chat agent said they've arranged a cheque to be sent out.

So far so good.  However PFP only billed up to 11th September, and British Gas only billed me from 12th October.  I pointed this out to the chat agent and said I owe BG for a month of energy (I've even worked out what I owe!).  The response was "the account has has been fully cleared and closed, there will be no bill".  You have to smile, but thanks BG!

  • See that BG have cancelled my previous bills (which looked correct) And issued a new bill just covering my electricity usage! So now in credit again but that’s because they aren’t showing any gas usage! How can they so useless? Plus they keep asking for meter reads and them when you give them. The confirmation email say that it is not yet time for a bill so will send a reminder later on for a current meter read!
