I've had the same email. It directly contradicts a messenger chat I had with BG when they told me I was being transferred to their Price Promise Apr 2022 tariff when PfPwent under. I specifically asked BG "I see no mention that this is a smart meter only tariff so I am assuming that it is not." to which they replied "Afternoon Neil, sorry for the delay in getting back to you as we've been busy of late here on Social Media. We fix the rate at the same level of the price cap so in that terms it is fixed & this isn't a Smart Meter only tariff." I think that BG are just trying to fulfil their smart meter licence quotas but it does annoy me as I think this contradiction amounts to fraudulent misrepresentation.Atomicsnail said:Today I received an email from british gas telling me "You're on one of our energy plans that needs smart meters, it was part of the agreement when you signed up."
Anyone know much about this ? Had the same email ?
I didn't choose british gas, I was placed with them after PfP went PoP. I would rather not have a smart meter.

So, turns out British Gas has cancelled the take over process from PFP, which is nice of them. No reason as to why, they just said the take over has been cancelled. They can't do anything until sales ring me back.

I’ve started getting BG sales calls, two of them so far. Would I like to consider a 1or 2 yr fixed deal?
I can’t imagine they’d be offering this to me if it was to my advantage instead of theirs, think I’ll stick with Martin Lewis’ advice to stay with the price fix.1 -

If you haven't heard anything by now, or have the technical error message when you try and login, I would give them a ring pronto! They mentioned some accounts didn't come over correctly and do not show as a PFP transfer on the internal system, they have the supplier down as another company. It's fine on the national database and correctly shows PFP, just not on their internal one.

I got an email offering a fix until Jan 2024. For me it would have been 23% more expensive than my existing Price Promise Apr 2022 tariff.penny_less said:I’ve started getting BG sales calls, two of them so far. Would I like to consider a 1or 2 yr fixed deal?

I've just had an email from british gas today saying
"We sent you the wrong smart meter email - we're really sorry about thatHello Neil We recently emailed you about getting a smart meter and mistakenly said you could be switched to a different tariff if we didn't hear back soon. That's not the case, and we're sorry for any confusion this may have caused. You'll stay on your current tariff There will be no changes to your current plan regardless of whether you get a smart meter or not. But if you would like to get yours booked in, just let us know and we'll find an install time that's good for you."
I would be interested to know if anyone else had the same email?
If not I wonder if BG monitor this forum and have identified me by my comments and reacted to them. 🤔0 -
