Hi. This is where I am confused. My email from British Gas says "as of 10 September you became our customer" but I don't have an account set up with them as yet. I then cancelled my Direct Debit to PFP.penny_less said:Just wondering...my standing charge and unit charge has also increased on the pfp website. Does it matter, as I thought we would now be on BG tariff starting from when they were appointed as SoLR?
But after seeing people here getting £12 charge and today the operator at PFP told me that my payment to them today had failed, I am even more confused.0 -
I wouldn’t read too much into any supply start dates being quoted by BG at the moment. All the IT systems will be set up to deal with standard switches (with normal timescales etc) so the IT is probably just doing what it normally does.jeremygiles said:I had my new contract from BG tonight with a start date of 6 Oct, my switch to Sainsburys is still supposedly on track, with a start date of 7 Oct, I wonder what will actually end up happenning 🤡🤡🤡BG are the supplier from 10th September. PFP will bill until that date, then BG will bill from that date. That’s how it’s gone for previous SoLR anyway.1 -
My payment went out to PfP today, I'm in credit of £180 already, so there will be another £40 sitting there. I got email from Neon Reef, that I was switched to them now. However my smart meter is still showing PfP.
My rates on PfP website still the same.

I initiated my switch to Neon Reef from PfP before receiving the email from BG. It’s all gone through now and hopefully I don’t get dragged back to BG.Penelopa.Pitstop said:My payment went out to PfP today, I'm in credit of £180 already, so there will be another £40 sitting there. My rates on PfP website still the same.I contacted NR a couple of days ago about the smart meter and they don’t yet use them, planning to roll them out and where possible re-use, so it’s manual readings for now.
My smart meter still says PfP and has the tariff I signed up to with them, rather than what the PfP website now says for the standing charge. I’ve never been billed by PfP, and was only with them for 2 and a bit months, presumably because my account would be in net credit (annual usage amounts for billing estimates being from a year of home working/home schooling and prior less efficient gas boiler) . On that basis I cancelled my direct debit on the day BG sent the email and haven’t been charged £12 against my credit so far despite my next billing day being last week.0 -
Noting the advice to stay put during the SoLR process but also recognising the poor timing and the gates closing on reasonable fixed deals I took a gamble on the 16th September to apply to switch to Sainsburys despite the SoLR process to British Gas having started. I figured that the worst that could happen is that either it didn't go ahead, and I'd remain with British Gas, or it would go ahead and I'd be pulled back to British Gas shortly afterwards - and of course maybe a bit more complexity regarding sorting out the relative proportion of who owes what to who for when etc but with regular meter readings and a minimal credit with PFP I felt okay on that front!
Sainsburys have been emailing me the occasional update and advising a start date of 3rd October and I've just phoned up British Gas to see if there is anything I (or rather they) should be doing to ensure nothing gets in the way of that switch. They said there wasn't, or rather they said that according to their system my 'sale had been lost' which I think is industry-speak for them being unable to perform the switch as intended due another supplier preventing it happening? I don't know, but I am a bit more confident now that it'll succeed so I thought it worth posting in case others that took a similar approach might want to get in touch with British Gas (0333 2029802) to check their situation, and perhaps get them to do something (or *not* do something?) should things be at risk for not concluding as desired. There was a bit of a wait (15 mins or so) but the lady I spoke was extremely helpful and positive despite the circumstances of my call!
Of course, it's not over until the fat lady sings but I can see her warming up in the wings...1 -
Exactly like me, was with PfP 2.5h month for electricity and never billed, but now will be £220 in credit. I regret changing my electricity meter to smart. First one was faulty and that's the reason I wasn't billed and now, I can only see one reading on it, instead of two, so I can't even get accurate eco 7 readings. I just use 25/75 ratio for night/day based on meter reads reported to PfP for short period.TheHareBear said:

It depends when you had your last bill from pfp. I still owe them for August and if it's worked out on this new tariff I'm going to be paying more.penny_less said:Just wondering...my standing charge and unit charge has also increased on the pfp website. Ah, good point. My last bill was on the 27th August, so presumably will still be on pfp’s tariff from the until 11th September when BG take over.t0rt0ise said:

Normally I would have got my September bill, by now. I guess they'll just do a final account, at some point. I'm bunging in meter reads, weekly, in the hope they'll use the latest one, rather than ceased trading date one. Ever the optimist!

I'm on smart meters, so I've never been able to enter manual meter readings on the PFP site (always got an error message).Verdigris said:Normally I would have got my September bill, by now. They took smart meter readings on 11th September and nothing since.
I've sent a couple of readings via email after they asked for upto date reads, but they've not made it into my account either.
Looks as if for my account at least it will be 11th September they will use.0
