Both PFP and Avro have now gone bust owing me money, which I could really use right now to pay British Gas!

What's the latest with cancelling direct debits? Are people still being charged the £12 admin fee? My DD is due out tomorrow and I'd rather cancel it, but don't want to get into a load of hassle if they start taking the mick and slapping on penalty fees. Has anyone successfully used the DD Guarantee to reclaim a payment since PFP stopped trading.

(when hopefully the gas pipe issue in France is fixed).

It isn't a gas pipe, it is a high-voltage direct current interconnector that normally carries 1GW of power (half a nuclear power station's worth).
Yes sorry, I got mixed up there.

After a lengthy chat with BGas about the fixed-ness of this tariff and pressing on them why it says 'tariff type - variable' on the contract, they advised this tariff IS actually variable (after confirming it was fixed on three separate occasions!).
    According to the T&Cs:

The price of your tariff won’t go up or down unless you change your tariff, change how you pay us (for example you stop paying by Direct Debit) or the government or regulator does something or plans something that means the price must change. For example, changing the amount of VAT we must charge. We’ll contact you if there is a change to your price.

It's important to note that the payment terms for this tariff are quarterly via cash/cheque. So DO NOT establish a direct debit on this tariff unless you are happy for them to change the tariff.

Surely the 27th October isn't right?

The CEO of Green said that PhP were 96% hedged, on the radio, this morning. I suppose that shows how thin the margins are on selling energy.

@tastyhog seems a lot later than the rest of us. My switchover date is 4th October, and I'm sure I've seen a lot of others commenting the same.

I guess the longer it takes the longer you are on the cheaper rates of pfp

My supply date was originally 30th September, it is now 28th October. Possibly my fault as I, stupidly as it turns out, tried to flee to Green.
