Is it no longer possible to log into the account pages?

I've no idea what I should owe or be owed - Had a direct debit go out yesterday.
get on there and download all your bill ASAP
  • Few questions.
    1. Should I cancel Direct Debit due 1st October? (Worried about £12 fine thing)
    2. Has anyone tried Direct Debit Guarantee to get back the past money they have in credit back?
    3. When will my credit with PfP be transferred to British Gas or be available for refund?
    4. My supplier is being moved from PfP to British Gas currently. When can I switch to another supplier? Obviously the sooner the better with the new price cap coming in 1st October but guess British Gas switchover won't be done until sometime in October?
    5. View on Britsh Gas Price Promise Apr 2022 that all PfP customers are getting transferred to and what to switch to?

  • Great questions.

I’m in exactly the same position. So will be tracking responses.

Thanks have cancelled my DD - I think that’s reasonable when I have credit and already been contacted by British Gas notifying me they are my new supplier!

I listened to Martin Lewis’s video today it’s so hard to make an informed  decision.

Did anyone receive an e-mail to reset their password and setup the British Gas account?
Yes, it was mentioned couple of pages back. I got email today, reset the password, but can't see anything on my account, get error message.
  • I've been trying this: https://www.britishgas.co.uk/identity/forgotten-details/forgotten-password  using the email address they emailed me on each day. So far get "We cant find your account" emails back. Suppose its done in batches.
  • I've had my contract through this morning from BG.. Price Promise April 2022.. I have £83 credit with PfP..

I've put my consumption (6,215kWh Electric & 21,091kWh Gas) into Cheap Energy Club, with PfP my estimated annual bill was £1529 p/a.. The best 24 month deal is with..

Sainsbury's, deal is 19.278p per kWh (electric) & 3.835p per kWh (gas).. estimated £2191 p/a

BG April 2022 deal is 20.141p per kWh (electric) & 4.043p per kWh (gas).. estimated £2286 p/a

BG Nov2023 deal is 24.968p per kWh (electric) & 6.418p per kWh (gas).. estimated £3089 p/a

Quite a difference in price over the year between the current offerings and double the BG 24 month fixed and my PfP deal.. especially considering Martin's advice that there will be another price hike in April, I'm considering switching now to Sainsbury's, rather than staying with BG and waiting until April to switch but worried I won't get my credit back from BG if I switch now.. don't mind losing it considering that it's the difference between the BG April 2022 deal and Sainsbury's 24 Month deal..

What are your thoughts, esteemed people?

That's a lot of energy, roughly double the average home.
In your position and with those choices, I'd take the Sainsbury fix.

    These are just my opinions.
    1) I think this is justified especially if you are in credit. Any fee could be disputed by you. That could take a while but it's going to take a while anyway.
    2) That is for errors, so morally it should not be used. If you bank are lax they might just take your word but that's a loophole. It should not be used for the purpose your are suggesting.
    3) No ideal but I wouldn't hold your breath.
    4) As said on here there is a risk to switching now as you could be dragged back and make it even more complicated. I went for it a few days ago and many others have either ignore the advice or like me, taken it on board and switched anyway. You've left it later than others so it's really up to you to balance the risks either way.
    5) Sainsburys, eon next and neon reef are coming up good. I'd suggest using moneysavingexpert energy club. Fixes are popular. Some fixes have been pulled just recently (like yesterday).

What have you been doing for the last 10 days? Only joking as I know people have other commitments but you are slightly late to the party.

That's what I thought, I was going off of what PfP had on their last bill for assumed annual consumption.

When Cheap Energy Club estimated by usage on their options, it came to 3045kWh for Electric & 15641kWh for Gas, & BG Nov2023 was the best option, so it all depends on what my usage is, but I don't have a detailed enough record of my usage to Make an informed decision.

Do you have actual meter readings from Summer 2020 (any time from May to September)? And your readings today? Those will let you get a reasonable estimate.
