Well it either was delivered damaged and neither you or your plumber noticed during installation, or your plumber somehow damaged it during installation or someone else has done something to cause the damage.

Can we see a pic further back from the damage so we can see where exactly on the bowl it is and where in relation it is to the tap? Could it be your plumber has overtightened the mixer tap causing a stress fracture?

    Good afternoon,

As previously advised, if you can provide the manufacturers with any further details, they may be able to look into this further for you, however at this current time, there is nothing more we can do.

Please accept my apologies for this inconvenience.

I've already said that you should complain to Amazon customer service, under their A-Z guarantee. Just tell Amazon that the sink is defective, and it's cracked in normal use. Amazon CS will most probably refund you straight away. It's *by far* your easiest course, and I cannot understand why you haven't tried it?

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I will do this today thank you. I was really hoping that franke could repair the sink but they are useless put all the blame on me and  me reading other threads about franke the warranty doesnt exist even if you cared for the product. Don't they have any engineers. If not i would have to get the plumber to come and take sink out. I would need to get packaging to post the sink back without damanging anything. I would then need to call plumber again to fix new sink and put silicone. I did'nt get the waste parts had to buy it separately . So it will cost me £240.00 for a plumber altogerther plus silicone we bought the most expensive one. If i include packing the sink nearly £300 gone.

It’s a problem for manufacturers giving a warranty on items that are installed in your property. Most only give a ‘return to base' warranty. I don’t know of any sink manufacturers that would come and dismantle your kitchen for you.

Your issue is almost certainly with your suppliers. It’s likely that the sink has been damaged in transit, long before it reached you. However, under consumer protection legislation they are not liable for your plumbing costs, just the cost of the sink.

Just buy a new sink, from a reputable source, and get your plumber in to remove the old one and fit the new one in a single visit.

Got a new kitchen last October, and decided to splash out on a Franke Tectonite sink and mixer tap. At the start of November this year, I noticed a small crack/chip at the side of the draining board/half sink.

I contacted the Irish supplier (KAL) who were highly surprised that the sink had cracked, it was not something that they had heard of happening, and said that Franke were excellent for honouring their warranty. I was relieved to hear this as the sink was so expensive and so new. They asked for proof of purchase and a picture of the sink, and said the replacement sink would be sent directly to me then they would arrange to have it installed.

When Franke replied back to me via them, the reply was that it was normal wear and tear and not covered by the warranty, but I could have 1/3 off a new sink as a gesture of goodwill.

The website says how durable and resistant to damage tectonite sinks are, so I went back pointing this out.

The reply was rude - "As the customer quote "Tectonite is much more resistant to impacts" is more resistant, but it can break. "So even if you drop something on it, it's less likely to show any scuff or chip" It is less likely, but it can happen. Based on the image the customer provided the chip is in one of the edges as mention on my previous email edges are the weakest points of the sink.

Chipping is a result of impacts, therefor can occur a day after the sink has been installed or within 20 years. It is not a faulty issue it is something external what causes, that is why it is consider wear and tear and is not cover in the warranty."

The sink and tap had made me quite proud of my new kitchen, but certainly not any more. I'm very sorry that I spent so much money on these items.
