I could have bought a cooke and lewis sink  for £100 from bandq.

Ok that's fine . That would be no problem. The big issue is that scuffs or scratches are not covered.
But, you said at the outset that you hadn't scratched it!!!!!!!
Which is true I never said I did but its not covered either way as members are saying it a scratch.
I don’t think that anyone here has done more than hazard a guess from the photo that you posted. Nobody knows for sure.

Also, you said “I think it a fault with sink because I rarely used it. I only used it to clean cups and plates”. If you did only clean cups and plates in it, it should not be scratched.

I suggest that you tell Franke that it’s cracked.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Oh, and I agree with you about stainless steel. We have three stainless sinks, coming up to 30 years old, and they are still in good condition. We brought them with us when we moved house!

This guarantee does not cover damage caused by improper use, wilful or accidental damage, damage caused by negligence, normal wear and tear, ,,scuffs or scratches,, improper installation, improper storage, abnormal usage (including usage in extreme temperatures) or damage caused by improper maintenance or cleaning (including the use of unidentified chemicals or cleaners containing corrosive agents). Damage caused by impurities in water supply or acts beyond our control are not covered
    Not much left is there?

This is it in a nutshell, you went premium because of the quality of the product and the guarantee. I'd looked at Franke and settled on Rangemaster, if I have the same problem I can't imagine being happy!

  • Good afternoon,

Many thanks for your patience whilst we look into this for you.

Please see the manufacturers response below regarding this issue:

Thank you for sending the image through. We have not seen damage like that before on our tectonite sinks, so we referred it to our Quality Co-ordinator for his feedback.

As my colleague Jonny has already mentioned, these sinks are very difficult to scratch - we have tried it ourselves here in the office with the samples we have - so our initial feeling was something pretty unusual has happened to the sink.

Our Quality Co-ordinator has just come back to us with feedback and agrees with our assessment. We believe the sink has been severely damaged, beyond what you would expect to be normal use. Although we are not sure what has happened, we would not class this as a manufacturing defect covered by our guarantee.

From the information we have available, we would not be able to replace the sink as per the terms of our guarantee.

Please accept my apologies that there is nothing more I can do.
