Today I just focussed on the dogs and the groomers. The walk was tough on all of us. Thought I was going to have to carry dog one at one point!
I was going to come home but the thought of doing the walk 4 times was too much! Instead I had a short wander round the shops such as they are. I spent 54 pounds (!) in a clothes shop, two Christmas tops and a normal top, that was with 25% off that I didn't know I was getting! I then went and sat and had a tea and a cheese and ham toastie. I did think sod it I am sick of always running from one thing to another to another. I also picked up my new glasses from 2 months ago! and bought bread and doughnuts.
Then got the dogs and took a slow walk home. We were shattered when we got in. Mum hadn't eaten, well a kitkat. We argued over whether she wanted anything to eat. AGAIN. I gave up and napped for two blissful hours, dreamt about something nice but don't remember what, came down, she had eaten a doughnut (progress!) and we had a cup of tea together.
I have sat surfing the internet since then. I have to do dinner, get the Christmas cards out, put washing away and move my washing on.
Am hungry. that is good. We have Gammon steaks, Jacket potatoes and peas for dinner.Nevertheless she persisted.3 -

Oh Buffy. I'm sorry things are !!!!!!. In addition to all the very rough stuff you have going on, the world is a very difficult place right now and there is a lot of misery and difficulty.
Re cars, we have a Honda CRV, which isn't very sexy obvs but it has A LOT of boot space, back seat space and is a good drive.2 -
Hi Buffy, i 'see' you on the NST thread sometimes
Just popping on to say hi and cheer you on. I'm glad you sat down on your travels and had a toastie. I too popped into my nearest town today and spent about £50!

Glad you managed some time on your own and a nap.
When it comes to your mum and eating, I think you may have to admit defeat - if she's not hungry/doesn't want to eat proper food, then leave her to it. Offer her some of whatever you're cooking when you're cooking it (and whatever time suits your work routine and other commitments), but don't push it. If she says no, smile sweetly and cook for yourself. It's hard, but it will save you both a lot of stress.4 -
Hello all, I don't have the patience for multi quoting!
Rosa I was relieved and happy for my time in Costa!
Rebecca XX thank you XX I shall put Honda on the list.
Hi Deni! XXX Nice to see you XX
And Greenbee, I think you might have a point there. I have said to my sisters frequently she doesn't eat enough and I can't keep having the same fight. It isn't fair on either of us.
Dinner was nice and mum ate most of it. I have mostly cleared up. Do need to put my washing away...
We are watching Angels and Demons, good film.

If I were you I would stop worrying about how much she is eating unless she is losing lots of weight. If she isn't doing much she won't need many calories, but if you are really worried try a multi vit & mineral. I would concentrate on getting fluids into her which could be an issue if she is worried about getting to the toilet on time.

Don’t forget people often need less to eat as they get older. My mum doesn’t eat a vast amount, but she’s fine. And her appetite varies. So much like with toddlers, offer food but don’t force it, enjoy it when you have a nice meal together, and try not to be frustrated when she doesn’t eat much. I refuse to serve my mum - she has to do it herself so I don’t put too much on her plate, as throwing food away really annoys me. Leftovers in the fridge might be handy, as she can always help herself to those when you’re at work and she CBA to make anything for herself, or if she’s hungry when you’re not (again, my mum and I run on completely different body clocks which means she’s having breakfast about an hour before I want lunch (I don’t eat breakfast) and would like her evening meal after I’ve gone to bed. As we don’t live together, we make compromises when we’re staying with each other, but it would be a nightmare if we were living together… my mum eats low foodmap and toast, I eat low carb and vast amounts of veg ☺️

I must say I am worried the food thing will ruin the relationship I have with Mum. My mum is very similar to yours Greenbee, as in eats at completely different time to me. I like vegetables.
It is what it is, a total waste of my energy trying to get her to do anything different.
I have ordered the powerbank, resisted ordering the rabbits a Christmas present, I mean I am not a 100% sure but I don't think they celebrate the birth of Jesus.... however I do reserve the right to get them "something" as the piggies have a something and so will the dogs..... all being committed Christians obviously!
I am hoping to sort the rest of my room before Christmas, it will be another "when the mood takes me" moment I feel as I have a long to do list!
Friday is the staff do and Saturday night I am seeing my special friendI am planning to go to the tip Saturday and Sunday, conservatory needs to be sorted out, small bun has her op on the Monday and will need to stay in the conservatory for a few days. I am hoping in that time also (!) to bond the other four and attempt to re organise the aviary a bit so they can all live there without barriers... Please let the bond go well.
I need to make my lunch and go to bed....
