Jenni_D said:Just had a letter from my MP enclosing a letter from Neil O'Brien ... it seems they are still considering the addition of debt recovery charges (I won't say costs as there are none) but state "The government understands that parking charges and debt collection fees are a sensitive topic, and we will carefully consider all consultation responses before making a final decision".
Government may well know it's very sensitive but do they fully understand that the wrong decision could be dangerous for them ?
The debt collectors currently without portfolio, will still be around but their filthy letters must be stopped. They must be regulated and forbidden to buy parking debts.
Neil O'Brien, Conservative MP for Harborough, Oadby and Wigston. could upset his constituents

I've already responded to my MP to raise these points, that there ARE no debt collection costs beyond what's already in the PCN value (Beavis) and that DCAs run a No-collect, No-fee cost model, so my MP needs to get together with colleagues to keep the government in check.Jenni x4

As the Supreme court ruled that the charge was to include costs of operating the scheme, will the government go against the Supreme Court ?
The Beavis case will stand unless they over rule themselves .... that will be big news
The Beavis case was won and accepted by Parking Eye hence they do not add the fake amount. The trouble maker here is the BPA and IPC who chose to go against the Beavis case ?
However, Parking Eye are sailing very close to the wind and being very stupid allowing DCBL to add the fake in their stupid chase up letters. No doubt DCBL offer this service free and probably DCBL don't realise, they are just being used and abused .... because Parking Eye take people to court themselves and do not rely on third party wannabees2 -
At the oral hearing, I believe Mr Hurly said that 62% of PPCs would go out of business if the fake add ons weren't allowed, yet at the other end of the table was the head of ParkingEye, a company that currently does not include fake add ons, and made a healthy profit of £12 million. This appears to make a mockery of Mr Hurly's claims as they are polar opposites.I married my cousin. several heads of parking companies have criminal convictions, and it cannot be right that the DVLA release personal data to a man who obtained a motorist's address then threatened to rape his wife without carrying out CRB checks (or whatever it's called now).
Don't forget, Patrick Troy was taking indecent photos of women when he was the head of the BPA, and is now a convicted sex offender.

What worries me is that people who will be making decisions about the private parking industry might believe him. They believed the BPA in 2012, and look at the carnage that happened afterwards.

Thanks. I am collecting all this info in order to send specifics to my MP, but what I really want to do is try to open a direct channel of communication with the powers that be without peeing someone off so much that they ignore me.I married my cousin. Also one of IPCs board (Chris Naylor) is a disgraced teacher - barred from ever teaching again after getting drunk and kissing pupils at Year 11 prom then trying to blackmail his employers when disciplined! Would these people get jobs in any other field?!? OK no criminal charges were brought, but concerning nonetheless!
