Reply from Sir Greg to my MP:

    “Dear XXXX

Thank you for your email enclosing a letter from your constituent who has concerns about the current situation regarding parking.

Your constituent is right to be concerned because I am aware of the tactics that many parking companies currently employ which led to my Private Member’s Bill having All Party support across the House of Commons when it because before Parliament.

I am disappointed at the delay in implementing the Act, but I understand the need for consultation as the Government moves forward with this measure.

You are right to have set out your concerns to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government as it is his Department which ultimately now controls the speed of implementation of the Code of Practice which looks unlikely to be in force now until next year.

Of course, as with most legislation in the UK, the provisions of my Act are not going to be retrospective and that is why motorists who feel they have been treated unfairly should continue to raise with their Members of Parliament instances of unfair practices when they occur.

I am grateful to you for forwarding your constituent’s concerns, not only to me, but also to the Minister, as this ensures Ministers remain aware of the strong feeling that exists on this issue and the need to see that fairness is introduced into our law in this particular area.

Thank you and your constituent for raising this.

I hope you find this reassuring."

I'm not particularly reassured as he's not said what, if anything, he's going to do about the consultation & Debt Recovery charges.
That is a good reply from Sir Greg. He is clearly disturbed that the likes of the BPA are trying to scupper his bill .  Although it is his bill, he is not in charge .. Robert Jenrick is in charge.

It now depends on Jenrick who will determine if such an outragous SCAM is approved on behalf of the government.

The government is in enough trouble right now and Jenrick would be well advised to listen to the millions of voters rather than two ATA's .. the BPA and IPC, whose only interest is to support a money scam.

If the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government does not support the motorists and voters, then he must have another motive ???
  • I have just had a reply from my M.P. , and there is an enclosed reply from MHCLG. That reply speaks about DRA (debt recovery agencies) and their practices. It then says that operators wishing to levy additional fees to clearly state this but the worst bit in my mind is this -

" Finally, in the current consultation the Government proposed to cap the level of debt recovery fees at the existing industry level of £70 " etc etc

Listened to us they have not ! I find this statement disquieting.
The problem with that is government let the Housing, Communities and Local Government and in particular Luke Hall MP under Robert Jenrick.

The other week both Hall and Jenrick WERE SACKED ?

Now Mr Gove is in charge and I don't think he will listen too much to the spouted rubbish by the parking industry and in particular the BPA ... both wanting the scam to conitinue.

    BPA (
British Parking Association) = 98% BAD ON TRUSTPILOT

And then there is Gladstones who set up the scam IPC/IAS

The door is now open to ask Mr Gove to look carefully at the severe errors made by the sacked Jenrick and Hall.

Is Mr Gove really going to take notice of an industry designed to damage motorists and voters ?

All letters sent to MP's should be resent with direct questions to Mr Gove and include the links above

For those who have not received a reply from their MP should say

    Dear ....

I am saddened that you failed to respond ......

My MP forwarded my concerns to RJ at the time. He did not get a response. Imagine my surprise.
I had an email from my MP's office today sent to Mr Gove, chasing up a response. Let's see what happens this time.
Everyone should be asking their MP to contact Mr Gove

I have requested my MP (now a MoS) to forward my email dated 8th August to Micheal Gove at LUHC
    Moi aussi. 😉
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Just had a letter from my MP enclosing a letter from Neil O'Brien ... it seems they are still considering the addition of debt recovery charges (I won't say costs as there are none) but state "The government understands that parking charges and debt collection fees are a sensitive topic, and we will carefully consider all consultation responses before making a final decision".

That sounds like the same template response I got, as well as at least two other posters.

I recommend that posters ask their MPs how people like us, ordinary members of the motoring public can have our say when we had no representation at the recent Select Committee oral hearing where "witnesses" from parking companies and debt collectors spoke, but people like us did not.

I posted about this in my "Comments please" thread.
