The poster you're responding to also posts in a similar manner on other boards ... I'll leave it to yourselves to come up with a description of such behaviour. ;)

I'm not sure which one of the two motoring association reps it was, but one of them said they weren't against the fake add on (my words) £70 in principle.

What's fake about a £70 charge?  Employing people doesn't come cheap. Would also dissuade the nonsense disputes that get raised these days.
Guess you have not read what the Supreme court said then ??
    Inflation is raging..........

Is the charge inclusive of VAT?
    VAT??

I guess you don't know that these parking companies have effectively exempted themselves from paying VAT?
    That poster knows.

He will also know that debt recovery fees are subject to VAT.  He will also know if PPCs have been paying VAT in such income and whether HMRC have been tipped off yet to have a little look at the breakdown of what all the £160 payments received by PPCs actually represent.

Now, I expect the likes of DRP and ZZPS do pay VAT, because it's their core business.

One wonders if all the PPCs and robo-claim solicitors have?

The parking company has not incurred the £70 cost.
The head of a debt collection agency admitted he made it up purely to increase profit.
The PoFA 2012 says it is not recoverable.
The Supreme Court said it is not recoverable.

It is not fake, it is unlawful.   Surely as a person employed in this industry you must know that?

That’s not exactly true, the government have consulted with the MOJ who confirmed that it’s perfectly lawful.

    Do you have link please?

  • Not sure if there is one. The ministry did an online teams/zoom seminar a few months back and Liam McNulty stated that it had been given the nod by the MOJ.

Not on 13th August he didn't.  Was this a meeting with your industry then?

  • Nope, the public one. If I recall correctly, one of the forum attendees asked if a transcript of the event would be released and they said it would be unlikely.

I asked that...but I didn't say 'transcript' I wanted the recording to be publicly available for others to watch.
