Can I join? I took this month off, finances were okay despite two holidays and one self isolation, but got an unexpected vet bill and then had to pay out my car insurance excess after a crash, and I somehow completely forgot my insurance was up for renewal too so August needs to see me get back on track.
Got a new job to look forward to at the end of the month, which will drastically cut my commuting costs as I can mainly walk/cycle. Looking forward to better work/life balance too.
May not post every day but will be paying close attention and holding myself accountable!6 -

And we're off!!Pinch, punch, first of the month! It's raining where I am, so I doubt I'll be outside too much. I'll spend time just watching it fall on the bushes and the garden. And if it stops for a bit, well try and get out for a walk. Probably a super muddy walk...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!7

Day 1
Not a NSD as the Tesco delivery comes on a Sunday but in the spirit of planning I've done the following:
Paid for our holiday in October (not due for a couple of weeks but that's it done)
Bought the rest of the Boy's birthday presents (26 August)
Bought a birthday card for a friend (27 August)
Bought holiday books for the two wee ones
Ordered and paid for some plants to replace the summer ones which are withering now
Budget is all done and looking OK. Charity donations made but I'm planning to go through all my clothes, handbags, etc and be totally ruthless. Anything I no longer use is off to the charity shop. And, of course, there is the cellar of doom to be tackled (not looking forward to that one).
I've made a "loose" meal plan for the next week using what's in stores (which is an awful lot!). I'm hoping I'll only have to top up a little bit of fruit and veg this week. A lovely free range chicken for dinner today so there should be enough left for tomorrow and a carcass to make stock for soup on Tuesday.
I'm trying very hard to lose weight. I've lost a stone and stopped drinking so I want to keep that up. Although I didn't manage to get out today I am planning to increase the amount of walking we started doing again last week.
I'm really bad at listing gratitudes because I'm really grateful for everything I have but I'll try. So today I'm grateful for:
The two toddlers upstairs making me laugh with their antics.
Ditto the wee one's "new" cat
Starting a new book which is looking very promising (I was reading until after eleven last night. That's practically unheard of)Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.6 -
Please add me to the list, @apple_muncher
- late to the party as we've been away for a few days and I dislike posting on my phone - back home now and on the laptop
Lights!
-get yourself outside - walking!
-light up other peoples’ lives – be kind, be complimentary, be generous - I shall try!
-light up your own life too – be kind, be complimentary and be generous to yourself. Do more of what makes you happy. - getting organised for back to school will make me less stressed (and therefore happier..), losing weight to feel better will make me happier (feeling less sluggish), taking time out and reading
-make your own life lighter: finishing sorting DS2's room with him this week and then it's onto DS3's. I have some things to list on flebay/ fb00k this month (don't I always!
) and no doubt some things will be making their way with me to the CS
Camera!
-make memories - just back from a short break. Need to take some time to do some more things with the not-so-smalls in the hols before they are all grown up!
- It is now 5 months to the end of the year, so have a look at your goals and take some baby steps towards achieving them. - will look at the goals I posted back in Jan
Action!
-get moving! - zumba and walking.
-take action on your debts/savings. - I keep raising our savings level - I may actually need to loosen the purse strings and remember that we need to have fun now and that sometimes involves extra spending!
-inaction is also a goal – books.. I want to get at least one book a week read
-eat well to fuel the body you want - more veg and protein, less processed foods (although I have an afternoon tea this week - was a Xmas pressie)
Gratitudes for today - getting back early enough to get 2 loads of washing done and on the line - may need to air on airers overnight, but all good
, for my children being gorgeous and lovely people (I'm biased!!), for comfy shoes, for sunflowers in the garden and in a jug in teh kitchen - so cheerful

Good evening turtles! No NSD today as I bought some protein bars (planned spend). Also paid £25 off my cc and bought some vinyl floor tiles for £60 to re-do the bathroom floor. Was going to pay someone to do it but have done a bathroom floor before so no reason why I can't do it again!
Did volunteering today and spent time with my share horse. Grateful for not getting rained on, for having some nice pony time and a relaxed Sunday afternoon.6 -
NSD 1 today.
Will probably post on Tuesday re what I need to do for this month's challenge as I will not be working that day.
