Good evening everyone

Just popping on to list my menu:
b - 3 rashers bacon and 3 eggs with 2 tomatoes
l - cottage cheese, salad and pickled onions
d - beef chilli with cauliflower rice
s - sugar free jelly, grapes and an apple
My blood sugars are now mostly in the normal range so I am so pleased and hopeful that my insulin may be reduced further in a little while. I have decided to try and cut out bread as even though I wasn't having nearly as much as I used to eat, I noticed it was creeping into my diet more and more.9 -
It's hard to remember sometimes that bread converts to sugars even if we are presenting it as something savoury. I'm feeling much better for cutting it out of my diet for the most part and wish I could convince my diabetic OH to do the same. That said I think that if I could get my OH to stop eating a packet of chocolate biscuits in one sitting that might be an even more positive step forward.dumpling said:

I struggle with bread and do not lose weight unless I cut it from my diet. I have found in later life that it triggers my IBS and my poor knees and ankles (Osteo) hate the stuff... but I do love it. I don't know what they put in W@rburt0ns I react very badly to their bread.MFW - 01.10.21 £63761 01.10.22 £50962 01.10.23 £39979 01.10.24 £27815. 01.01.25. £17538

I have tried most brands, Kingsmill is a no go, I think it might be the yeast.General_Grant said:

Good evening everyone

I have really struggled today and I'm not sure why. Our fridge is nearly empty which makes me very anxious (old emotional issues) but today I have just wanted to eat all the carbs. I got through breakfast and lunch just about but caved in and ordered a takeaway for dinner which came with a big pile of chips and I ate every one! The rest of the meal was chicken and coleslaw so not as bad as it could have been. Thankfully my blood sugars were stable so no ill effects thank goodness. Our shopping isn't coming until Monday so it will probably be another difficult day tomorrow but I am determined to get through it ok this time.
My meals today were:
b - cheese omelette
l - mushroom soup and a can of chicken curry
d - chicken, chips and coleslaw
s - a small piece of red leicester and an apple
Good Luck to all of you xx6 -

I have issues about food which are from childhood... I agree it is difficult. The good side is your sugars are stable and tomorrow is another day.
If I am 'being good' I usually order a chicken kebab and get the takeaway to wrap the pitta on the side so I am not tempted to eat it.... I steal chips from Mr Pepper, lol.
Maybe having a takeaway will help, sometimes I need a treat to get things out of my system for a while.
I think you said something about missing something sweet, could you make your own ice lollies using sugar free squash, I don't know if you would be allowed this?
Thank you for your words of encouragement to us all, it does help. XxxMFW - 01.10.21 £63761 01.10.22 £50962 01.10.23 £39979 01.10.24 £27815. 01.01.25. £17538

That's a good idea, I'll have to find some ice lolly moulds as it's years since the children were small. I also use sugar free orange squash as the liquid when I make a fruit salad. If I'm good it's just the orange squash but I have been known to add a small amount of white rum to give it a bit of a kick.jennystarpepper said:I think you said something about missing something sweet, could you make your own ice lollies using sugar free squash, I don't know if you would be allowed this?
Yesterday
B - 0
L - 2 leftover cold sausages, apple, pear
D - 2 well cooked mutton chops to try and get rid of as much fat as possible, veg, sugar free jelly and kiwi fruit.7 -
That sounds lovely.... stop giving me ideas,zafiro1984 said:

If there is a brand which you have found to be OK, you could check the ingredients and see if that gives you a clue. I quoted Kingsmill wholemeal just as an example: I seem to be able to eat anything, so don't worry to check myself!jennystarpepper said:
