I'm officially dumped!!
Orange pay as you go sim came this morning, registered it, contract ended!!
Guess what?
Needed to get hold of the wife asap, no credit on my phone aarrgghh!!!
typical0 -
Been with orange for 13 years.... gulp!
Jumped the gun and got the iphone on o2 before my contract and love it as a hitchhikers guide to the universe, maps, email, gadgets, etc but as an out and out phone it's not that great... drops out of service, battery dire, etc.
Also can't bring myself to axe my old number so thought Id upgrade with orange, keep the old number and just get a slimmed down package for about £20 a month and dual phone it - business / personal.
I just phoned to speak to retentions and cannot until my contract is up on 11th october but the guy in upgrades has just offered me:
Dolphin package Im on with a discount, so for £20 (+vat) a month
FREE 16GB samsung omnia
800 any network mins + 200 free
500 free texts
free anytime calls to orange mobiles
for £20 per month, which seems pretty decent & just trying to get them to waive the non direct debit fee as well
If they are offering me that straight off the bat Im tempted to hang on in there for a better offer closer down the line - but has anyone had a recent better offer?
Eg. My flatmate got a free ipod touch when he upgraded in June but they have just told me they are no longer doing that offer.
Don't want to snap it up straight away and regret it!0 -
2nd attempt call i got through to some useless muppet who was clearly 5 mins from the end of his shift who said phone was £199 and contract would be £45
total package cost = £199 + 18*£45 = £1009!!!!
then later that evening i phoned again and got
18month contract
400mins
500 texts
unlimited orange to orange
unlimited data
samsung Omnia £119
£20/month
total package cost £119 + 18*£20 = £479
That's a really good deal. I'm on a pay monthly tarrif of £15 with orange and asked about the omnia on retentions. They didn't have any in stock and didn't offer me any deal on the phone.
The best deal I've found is on Vodaphone with Quidco. £35pm 18 month with £90 cashback from quidco. Thats 700 minutes anytime any network, unlimited data, unlimited landline calls, and 250 texts. So, (35*18)-90 = £540.
Can anyone suggest a cheaper option with unlimited internet?0 -
Thanks for sharing this, it helped greatly with the negotiation!!
I got 700 mins, 100 text unlimited landline and nokia 6500 classic. £15 a month.HiroNakamura wrote: »Sorted my bro's deal today speaking in a deep tone,
500 Mins
100 txt
unlimted landline
Free Broadband 2mb catch is that monthly limit is (2GB)
Free U900 Soul Black
£10 a month for 18 months
Did get offered an omnia last week for £20 then they changed their mind! Orange = French Telecom0 -

just phoned up and they have amended my offer so that I now CANNOT have an omnia!!
so after 13 years of being with orange the lady in retentions seemed more than happy to offer me my PAC code ... contract up in November so at this rate I'm off0 -
they said that the omnia was out of stock, and when it came back in stock it was going to be 'discontinued for upgrades'
Im gonna try again in a couple of weeks and escalate it to a supervisor and see if I have any more joy but she didnt seem willing to budge at all0 -
Just got off the phone to The Orange Retention department. Reduced my bill from £30 per month 200mins and 200texts to
A Sony Erricson C902
200 mins and unlimited texts
for £20 month for 18months.
My first bill this year to go down in price.
Im happy with this0 -
I have had Orange phone a couple of times lately as i am due out of my contract in mid Nov.
As a "Loyal" customer they can give me a discount on my current tariff Dolphin £35/month and lower it to £30.
As they had no phones available that i wanted at the time (was looking at the N96 or Omnia but now might hold out until the HTC Touch HD is available) the guy said he would call back closer to my end date to see what he can do.
Only problem with their retention department is that they must think people as stupid. Offering me a £5 discount for loyalty yet if a new customer wants to take out the same contract they are offering them the same deal.0 -
I did have the following up until a couple of months ago (turns out the loyalty was for 18 months)
Dolphin 35 (500 mins + Unlimited Texts) (Normally £35)
Direct Debit Loyalty (10%) - +50 mins
Loyalty Minutes + 2000minutes
Loyalty Discount (£5) = £30
I have spoken to retentions and they aren't willing to match it again. I would like to keep as many of the minutes as possible, but could live with 1800. The unlimited SMS is a must though. Some data package would be great though.
Has anyone got anything close to this matched recently? All the guy wanted to offer me was 1800 mins + Unlimited SMS for £45. There's no way i'm taking that.
Or anyone know of similar tarriffs on other networks which I can use as a bargaining chip? I'm aware of a SIM only deal on SOLO package on T-Mobile which has 1400 mins + unlimited SMS for £25 I think it is. I don't mind this, as I'm happy with my phone anyway, was only going to sell the new one.
CheersKing Regards,

really annoyed with orange, a month before my contract was due to end i gave notice to end my contract and they offered me a blackberry bold (what i wanted) 600 mins, unlimited text and unlimited browsing on a 18month contract for £22.50 for the 1st 9 months then £27.50. Phoned friday to double check to be told that she couldnt find it in the notes and oh theres no way i would have been offered such a deal as the phone is £200 on its own. No manager to talk to so i have an address to complain to but not sure if i can bothered. So i'm moving to vodaphone on the 4th, bought myself a blackberry bold sim free and if i complete the cashback deal (which shouldnt be a problem i get 12months free line rental (cashback) with 600 mins and 500 texts, unlimited browsing for £5.00 a month... so thankyou orange i might just send them a letter to thank them!!Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0
