  • I also just spoke to orange (was upgrade, not retentions)

Even though saved on my file was an upgrade deal for free N95 black, 600mins, unlimited txt for £20 a month, when i enquired about the Omnia, she tried to talk me off the phone asking why i was interested in it etc. i told her i wanted an iphone and this was the nearest i could get on orange. she came back with £199 for the handset (i'm out of my contract) :O
I told her then i'd probably have to reluctantly leave orange to go for a voda contract through dial-a-phone, she asked details, i told her what i'd seen on website, she then asked what i'd like to do with my number !!!!
Was expecting a bit more bartering to be honest, was very polite and friendly with her but like the above post, seemed to want me out the door !!!

You are a low spend customer but you tried to push her and she declined, offering you your MAC.

  • the £20 a month is what they offered me, my previous contract was £30 per month and i often went over with bills of £40-£70 per month. this has been pretty standard over the past 4 years with them.

Ah well, i've enjoyed my time with orange but all good things must come to an end !!

Lets see what Vodafone has to offer
  • i'd have been happy to stay around the £30 mark with a free handset which is what new customers can get but she seemed quite unwilling to offer alternatives and end of the day, i'm the customer and didn't want to plead with them for my business !!
  • UPDATE

swollowed by pride and phoned orange back up under intention of ensuring i get my pac code (think i requested pay as go sim). Went straight for options for 'disconection follow up'. Told the bloke i needed pac code for Voda. He offered me a few improved deals over what the upgrade cow offered. We finally settled on :
    1200 mins
    500 txt
    250mb mobile internet
    Free handset upgrade (16gb Omnia)
    £30 a month

very happy, phone delivered to work tomorrow

    whoop

  • on previous 'upgrade' conversations they've passed me onto retentions before giving marching orders though.

Ah well, all ended well and i'm still with orange, who to be fair to them have always seemed pretty decent.

have hope exisiting customers and just go straight for retentions (i know thousands of posts say this, i tried to do things the honest way and be open about wanting to stay and just upgrade but it doesn't work !!)

The only reason you got this was because you already had this phone as an 'offer under consideration'. Apparently, as of today, Orange management decided that no existing customers can have the Omnia for free, even if they take a £50 a month plan.

I am now even more determined to leave Orange, since they have no interest in me as a customer what-so-ever. Can't wait to get my PUK code!
  • were did you get that info from stevie1?
