Orange Retention Offers

Hi there. I wonder if anyone has any advice please?
I've just renewed my contract, and thought I was getting a good deal and realise others are doing much better!!
I was on the Talk 250 plan last year. £30.00 for 250 minutes and 500 texts with 1mb date. The Plan was £30 a month but discounted to £15.00 with a Nokia 6300. I was very pleased.
Have just renewed and tried to get a similar deal. Was first told that the cheapest plan was £20.00 so spoke to convert to PAYG. Then put back to customer services who offered me £5.00 web discount off the Dolphon 15 with a Nokia 6500 c. Told them I didn't need a new phone but they have to send one. So I haven't got the 250 mins I wanted, but am only paying £10.00 per month for 18 months for 100 mins and unlimited texts on the Dolphin 15.
After reading some of the deals on here I now think I did pretty badly as some of you have got 300 minutes and 100 texts for the same price.
As for the Nokia 6500c I think it's a downgrade compared to the 6300. Slightly slimmer, but poor battery life, no memory card slot and a plastic back instead of stainless steel. I'm about to respond to the standard feedback text and suppose I'm now committed, but really wish I stuck out for a better deal. Any suggestions please (apart from teling me to just stop moaning.....). Thanks.0 -

not sure but you might be lucky and still be within the 14days of buying it so you just pay for what you used and can send the phone etc back..Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 -
on the last day of my contract in the evening i eventually managed to get this deal...
i was on 300 mins, 400 texts, unltd landline calls
for £10 a month i got 400 mins, 100 texts, unltd landline, free Samsung U800, free bluetooth headset on an 18 month contract
it did take a number of calls on my part, and a lot " i'd like to avoid the hassle of changing to someone else", " if you can give me a little bit more its a deal" etc. to get the extra mins and free headset0 -
Had Orange on the phone early this monring as my 18 month contract ends in October.
They offered 300 minutes, 100 texts, unlimited calls to landlines with a Samsung U900 on an 18 month contract for £20.00 per month.
Seeing shailesh's deal makes me glad I declined the offer.
Told them I was going to shop around, however, if they can improve the offer to give me a call back.0 -
Thanks to shailesh and stolt for their replies to my post.
I think the lessson is I shouldn't have renewed my contract so soon!! Just been on to retentions (I think), to be told by a very determined rep that my 100 minutes for £10.00 is a very good deal and not even an official offer. Does that mean we can cancel it then I asked? Of course not!! You have to pay for 18 months. As for my complaint about the Nokia 6500 - I was told well you don't have to use it!
I didn't take a belligerent attitude but now I'm trapped I didn't get anywhere and she made it clear I won't be offered anything. Really wish I'd waited - I'm sure I've seen Virgin offering 150 mins for £12.00 so 100 with Orange even for £10.00 is not such a good deal anyway.
As usual it's great to see the input and advice on here - even if I should have read it first! Thanks for your contributions.0 -
I terminated my Orange account today, no fuss no one trying to keep me, felt quite rejected actually. Apparently the deal im on now is too good, they dont want to match it.
£10 a month for the last 18 months with 250 mins and 200 texts.
Had it changed to PAYG so as soon as i get the sim and register it the contract ends.0 -

Richard, I was told that i had 7 days to change my mind so if you're still within this time frame I'd call them again.
What i found is that what is offered varies a lot from one rep to another. after the first time i always said i had rung previously and was offered the racoon 25 at £10 and they just said 'we can do this'. not sure if it was because they had this on the system or whether it is an offer for all. the phones offered for this aren't the greatest, but its a good deal if you're not too fussed.0 -
Just got what I think is a pretty good deal.
Currently on Dolphin 35, £35 a month + £5 E/W Unlimited Data = £40
Offered:
300 anytime mins
100 texts
Unlimited Landlines
£15 a month
+ Samsung Omnia for £9.99 on an 18 month contract.
Data Bolt on has not been included in the above contract. However, I've kept it on for an extra £5 a month.
They offered me the HTC Diamond on the same basis but free and only £10 a month line rental for the same deal. However, not happy with the battery life and slow interface on that phone although appreciate that in some people's eyes it might have been a better deal.
I should absolutely add that it made a huge difference between being properly out of contract, and within a month of the end of the contract. The orange advisor made me aware of this when I phoned earlier this month.
Rest assured the out of contract offer was substantially better than the in contract one, even close to expiry.0 -
Hi I was adter some advice. I callled orange up after my contract expired, and was offfered the samsung omnia for £89.99, and a contract of 300 minutes, 100 landline minutes and 100 txts for £20 a month. i anted the omnia for cheaper but they wouldn't budge, so I requested my pac code. This has arrived in the pot, but i actually don't want to leave, was just wondering whether I should call orange back and try to bargain with them again? Thanks,0
