Yesterday i phoned asking for my PAC and told Orange i wanted an iphone so was moving to O2. The guy offered me an HTC Diamond which is what i wanted really with 300mins 100 texts, unlimited calls to landlines for £20.

I then asked about unlimited data which he said is usually £8.00/month. Without asking he said he could do a bundle for £18. I had to ask him a couple of times but he said it was the offer above for £20 + unlimited data for £8 but he would put a credit on for £10/month!

This is on an 18month contract, which i don't really want. I know it's a pretty good deal but i'll try and get the contract length down.
  • Just to let everyone know i have just come to the end of my 18 month contract with orange and do they want to keep my business!.

Current deal was 500 mins, 500 txts, phone and free broadband (2mb).

I first rang when i was in the last month of my contract and was offered 600 mins, unlim txts, new phone and i can keep my broadband (which i got free when i took out my last contract). All for £25 p/m.

I thought about it rang back and was told if i wait till the last day of my contract the above would be £20 p/m.

So i did, rang on the last day, deal was the same but i was away for a few days. I waited till the day before i was due home and rang. After a few minutes i was eventually offered, wait for it,

Tocco f480, 8gb memory card, 600 mins, unlim txts and keep my broadband for £15 p/m.

So the moral of the storey is wait, dont dive in and they will beat any offer, inc cashback sites.

Just got off the phone to orange (saynoto0870.com - 0800 0790435) didn't even take 10 mins.
Thanks to incesticde's previous post, I mentioned I am after an iphone wanted pac number. No transferring departments offered firstly
    Free HTC Diamond
    400 min
    500 text
unlimited landline calls £20 a month.

Asked about data, told it is £8 p/m for 250 Mb but could do it for extra £2.50.
Told him I didn't want to be over £20 p/m so accepted
    300min
    100 text
    unlimited landline
    250Mb data
Oh and free htc diamond of course
    17.50 p/m.

I'm happy. It seems with the iphone hype and it being locked to O2 orange are doing what they can to keep us. Seen the iphone and wasn't that impressed. Delivery Tuesday 8-6pm. (took me longer to type this than the phone call to orange)

    Hi,

Been looking on the Mobile Phone forum, especially the retentions threads for each operator, I thought it would be a good idea, to tell us the tariff you are on, so that other people can see what you are on and use it as a potential bargaining chip, or to see what else you can get from another operators.

    I will go first:

Orange :- 1200 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited data, Magic Numbers (in month 7 of 18, been customer for years) got deal through retentions £30.50

  • Orange Dolphin - renewed in April after 18 months - £25 a month for 600 X-net mins and unlimited texts, magic numbers and free broadband. I renewed for 18 months and got a Nokia 6500 classic bronze.
  • Im still considering my options as I was offered the following by the upgrade dept:-

    HTC Diamond £70
    200 mins + Unlimited Texts for £20 a month.

Informed the uninterested guy that I was going to leave and asked for the retentions dept. I was then offered the following after being told that I had £380 of discount available to me as an existing customer out of contract:-

Free HTC Diamond or Samsung i900 Omnia
600 mins, unlimted text & data
    £27.50

I still dont think that is great, but the lady was bending over backwards to keep my custom as soon as I mentioned wanting an iPhone.

Apparrently the £380 allowance is split between £70 for the upgrade phone and £310 can be used to reduce the monthly charge or buy accessories. Just need to work out the best talk plan that will give me the greatest reduction.

Anyone else been told their own personal 'discount allowance' amount by retentions?

  • Do Orange still do the cashback deal if you upgrade in store? So upgrade in store, and get £x if you trade in a mobile
