Orange Retention Offers

Thought I would post my recent experience here as I've benefitted from previous posts. Was on Orange with HTC Desire @ £18.90 for 300 mins/500 mb, which I never used up. Wanted a One X for same sort of price, which they were via redemption deals in the summer, but despite getting PAC from Orange didn't get offered anything near that. So have just picked up an HTC One X+ from O2 for £15.50 plus 104 for the phone, with 200 mins / 500 mb, effectively £19.80 a month, and a bit cheaper with cash back. This is on O2's main website with no redemption fiddles, so happy with that. It's a lovely phone by the way - my first choice over the S3 and Nexus 4.0

Got put through to another department to arrange the unlocking of my iPhone and explained my situation, he put me through to "retentions". Said I was after a sim only and he offered me 500 mins 500mb and texts for £15.50 on a 12 month contract. Told him tesco were offering the same for £10 on a 30 day contract and he didn't even try to better his offer!
Ill keep u updated if I get a phone call with a better offer but I'm doubting i will even get one - toodle pip orange!
That was a week ago and no call from retentions yet.......
What have been other peoples recent experiences when asking for a PAC, have they been receiving the all important call?0 -
DH called Orange yesterday to ask if they could match O2 Sony experia T unlimited text, unlimited calls, 1 Gb data for £26 and £50 cashback with TCB. No they couldn't match it, so asked for PAC code and cancelled and ordered from O2. Today while waiting for delivery Orange rang to offer iphone 4s unlimited calls, texts 1 Gb data for £26 and £29 one off. Cross as lot of hassle and why couldn't they do this yesterday, but he has cancelled o2 and is staying with orange.0

My 24 month contract with Orange has expired (December 2012) and I am currently on a month-by-month rolling contract. I called them on Wednesday to see if they could offer me a better deal and handset upgrade - my last handset was an HTC Desire HD which unfortuately broke and Orange refused to replace so I have been using a crappy Samsung for the past 9 months. I pay arounf £23-25 a month. I wanted to try and get a Sony Xperia T and maybe some good freebies thrown in - more minutes or data over the 200 mns I currently get. The first guy I spoke to, after a bit of wrangling was offering me the Sony Xperia T on £20.50 a month but on a deal freely available on the internet. I said I would think and call back. Having done some further research I called back today and said that as the deal I was being offered was available online I didn't feel it was that 'special' and hence not really a reason to stay - O2 offers the handset on an 24mth £18 contract with roughly the same perks. The guy I spoke to this time said that the Xperia T was not availabe to me free - not what i was offered they day before, he even wanted to 'offer' me a more expensive package. I then said I wanted to leave Orange, he offered me my PAC code but I said that if they could not agree on a plan to offer me is there any point staying and that I would rather take my business elsewhere to a company that would give me what I was lookign for and as a result instructed him to terminat my contract giving my 30 days notice.
My question is this -
Have I called my bluff with Orange too soon in asking for my cointract to be ended? Should I have gone with the PAC code, or might Retentions still call me?
Basically I am hankering after retentions calling me - having been offered the handset I want once already I feel that they must be able to make that offer again, and if they do I want to try and haggle a bit more.
Has anyone had a call back from retentions after 'cancelling' their account? Or do they only call those who have asked for a PAC code?
Many thanks!0 -
not sure about retentions calling u but i assume u didnt want to keep your number?
cancelling and pac are essentially the same thing they both end your contractWhat goes around-comes around0 -
The number wasn't so important - it's easily changed if needs be. What I was more concerned with was demonstrating to Orange that I was serious in leaving unless they could offer me a better incentive to stay with them.
PAC does not end your contract - it gives you 30 days in which to use it and change service supplier, before it expires and then your contract continues as before. Giving your 30 days notice on the contract is a definate signal that you are going, unless they can convinvce you to stay,
I'm hoping it works!
Understandably there is a lot less hassle in not changing number but if Orange don't want to make me feel wanted then I'll go elsewhere!0 -
i see wot youre saying but it can still end a contract if u use it i dont think theyre really bothered anyway u might get a callWhat goes around-comes around0

Has anyone else had any success in getting the Orange Retentions team to call them if you have asked for your contract to be cancelled?0

nope. i got a letter asking me to call customer services, i did and all they did was regurgitate the !!!!py offers they had proposed when i first cancelled:mad:0 -
Thats my worry!! The 'deals' they have offered me so far are a long way from enticing!
Did you give your 30 day notice on your contract with Orange or just request a PAC code before they sent you a letter?0
