    Hi,

    Bit of a strange one...

I've got about 6 months left in contract, and been I've signed up to 'billmonitor' for a few months to get detailed analysis of my usage, and also to see what other deals are out there... I know I'm not really in a position to walk away at the moment, because in contract... but...

Billmonitor says that my spend per 12 months is £473 MORE than the UK average, but my inclusive calls usage is 'very low' ... (stats over last 12 months ... max inclusive minutes used in one month 48 P/M, Ave ~20, min 7 inc minutes P/M) ... Typical bill is around the £70-80 P/M mark, with ~£100 peaks when EU roaming .... Its roaming calls and non inclusive stuff that cripples me.

I would say, based on the above, (giving Orange ARPUx2 income but only 10% of normal usage 20 odd minutes versus UK ave 250 P/M)... that I am a band 5 customer, am I right on that one?

What will they offer to save me in 6 months (+ a couple of days) time??

Also, based on my base tarriff price, the ET fee (£96-VAT) is around £80 something, but I can save £300 or more over the next 6 months walking away to a £10 tarriff+ EU bolt on elsewhere ...

Do I sit it out, or walk?? Are they likely to 'bite' yet??

You average £70-80 then I would firstly phone up and see if they will add any bundles to cut your monthly costs. If they dont then I would pay the early termination fee and get another contract elsewhere as it would pay for itself in a couple of months.

I simply don't get how Orange could not offer me anything. I can buy a phone now for £28.50 a month with the mins etc I want. With Orange. And anybody can get it. Add insurance and that's £34.50 a month. I'd be happy with anything below £30.
So I'm only looking about a fiver off the deal for my loyalty bonus. I've been a customer with Orange for 10 years or so and they're not trying too hard!
Request you PAC and they'll try a bit harder to keep you. In the mean time have look at this deal from T-Mobile and this one from O2.

Being with Orange for 10 years doesn't make any difference, loyalty means nothing unless you're making them plenty of money.

They will 'bite' when you make the call to leave them, unless they can beat whatever you can get elsewhere, walk.

I tried to upgrade a week ago and the deal they offered wasn't worth it so I asked to cancel my contract but they said I would have to ring in a couple of weeks (Timings between contract end date and upgrade date on their system). So I was planned to do this and started to do some research.

I can get a Vodafone Employee Advantage Scheme so I was looking at the Samsung Note for £31 which works out at £24.80. Free phone, 600mins, unlmtd text, 500gb.

My usual monthly spend is £30.

Yesterday I had a phone call offering me the following for £23.50.
    Galaxy Note - Free
    400 mins
Unlmtd Text, internet, email and BT Wifi
    2 Swapables.

I don't use that many minutes so this looks ideal for me.

OH currently has Samsung Galaxy Apollo 15801
with business Solo 25 account gets
    600 mobile mins
    100 texts
    1gb data
    Unlimited UK Land Lines
    Free email
    Free wifi
    +500mb Browser £4.25 month
    =£29.50 month

This is the proposed upgrade for new contract

    (free)Samsung Galaxy Mini 2
    450 mobile minutes
    250 texts
    750 mb data
    Unlimited landline calls
    Free email
    Free wi fi

Not sure if browser option would continue to cost extra £4.25 month as it is not mentioned in quote

OH told salesman he was a large man with large hands and would prefer larger phone also wanted something more powerful, how about an S3. Salesman advised against it, said they were not shipping them at present as there were issues.

I dont think there is such thing like a Retention Deal for any Iphone. You might want to wait as it is more than possible that the next Gen Iphone will be introduced by End of September, which should theoretically bring the price of the 4s down.
