Orange Retention Offers

I've just had a letter from them telling me I am eligible for an early upgrade, it then tells me I have 4 months left on my contract and the letter is dated as May. My contract ends on 1st Sept so I have 2 and a half mths left. It advises me to ring a freephone number to see what they can offer me - has anyone had any similar letters and are the deals likely to be any good at all? I know its a freephone number so it won't cost me anything to find out but I don't want to waste half an hr or more (knowing them) if the deals are just rubbish!
My contract ends 28/8 and they called me last week offering me an early upgrade and cancelling the rest of my contract. The deals offered were the exact same deals available on their website if I was to start a new contract. Which if using cashback sites, Id have been better of waiting, so I didn't take up their offer.0 -
My wife was offered this minus the loyalty extras and unfortunately took it and the answers to your questions are:
1. Landlines count towards the 150 mins.
2. Voicemail gets slammed at 35p a min (and I think is rounded up to the nearest minute).
i've never been charged for listening to voice mails on Orange. is this a new thing?0 -
I had this and it told me that I can pay £67 to get out early??? So basically they have done what ofcom said in that they dont add the upgrade onto the length of the new contract, but they are actually just using it as a money making excercise!
Surprise surprise!
Also if I find a good T-Mobile offer somewhere, can I pac from Orange to them?0 -
I also got this and they also offered to buy my 14 month old HTC Desire for £67. I'm not going to take it up either and have no qualms about jumping ship if Orange don't buck up their ideas. The only fly in the ointment will be getting my phone unlocked. Does anyone know what the going rate is for this service at the moment?(not via Orange).
Also if I find a good T-Mobile offer somewhere, can I pac from Orange to them?
Which phone ? Most can be unlocked by independent phone shops for between 5 and 20 quid depending on make and model.
The only exception would be iPhones, where the only safe way is to get the network to unlock them.
You can port from Orange to T with no problem. They're still run as separate company's.0 -
I really want the Galaxy S3
I just called up and asked for my pac code. They them asked why I was leaving. I said as now my contract has expired I could get a better sim only deal through giffgaff. After them finding out they could not match giffgaff I suggested I may stay if they offered me a Galaxy S3. However they only offered me the deals that are listed on their website and not any retention offers. So I said no and requested the PAC
Is there any advice anyone could give me0 -
I have been with Orange for several years, and I've been told that I can't get any more loyalty deals! What's the definition of loyalty?
I say there is still some juice to be squeezed out before I jump ship. (off to perfect my haggling skills)0 -

Its hard to get a good deal on a new model in the first month it's out unless you're a high spend customer.
You'd get a better offer in month 2 or 3 when demand drops off.
It doesn't matter what you say to retentions as their system won't let them go past a point on payment per month against cost of handset.0 -
I'm currently on a sim only 30 day rolling contract with Orange and I've been on it for 4 years and 9 months (due to being a student and not having job security). Saw a great deal in Phones4u - Panther £31, 400 minutes, unlimited texts, 750mb internet and 2 swapables, free Samsung Galaxy SIII.
The guy on the phone said they wouldn't give me the phone for free, I'd have to pay £36 a month to get it for free or pay £150 upfront and pay £31 a month. Wasn't happy with either offer so told them I was thinking of leaving, and they didn't care, even though I was asking about signing up for a 24 month contract. One guy on the phone told me I "hadn't built up enough loyalty" and that I hadn't "spent enough money". Safe to say I made a complaint about his attitude.
Turns out that the deal with phones4u is only for new customers (because us long time customers always get the worst deals) and if I want to get it I have to transfer to pay as you go for 3 to 6 months!
Long story short, I am now very annoyed that Orange have failed to acknowledge my tenure with them, they weren't interested in offering me any incentive to stay with them.0 -

I have just ben offered the the following deal by retentions - that can only be applied on the day my current contract ends - in a couple of weeks:
I was on last years retentio deal 750 mins 250 txt at £35/12 months, and new offer is 1000 mins, 250 text, 10 mb data, £30 on 18 month PLUS broadband. Oh and Free SPV E650 (I was impressed with previous SPV so asked for this)
Can i stick out for more or do you think this is good deal, think it covers all my usage needs. Would appreciate any comments. My average month s about £50 including insurance.0
