Phoned Orange myself this evening for an upgrade, was considering the one S which is available in several places free on Orange Panther 20.50 (100mins and 500MB).

Ugrades offered me the same deal that is on their website basically £36 a month (more minues etc but not required) and could not improve on this. So they put me through to cancellations, but apparently over the last two years, I've not been a good enough of a customer so I don't have enough loyalty points to go below £26 a month and get the phone free. So apparently you have to be a very loyal customer before they will even match the basic deals available on their own network through the high street retailers. I was even told that the high street shops can offer such good deals because they use recycled phones

Easily dealt with though, time to vote with the feet and go somewhere else. However it won't just be one customer they lose, it will be Me, My Wife, My Mam who are all existing customers and if I had been able to get a reasonable deal my two Brothers who are currently with Virgin (were Virgin TV customers but have now left) and since their contract is up soon and I will be the one sorting out a new deal for them I was going to look at Orange due to Magic Numbers. Oh well, their loss.

I've just had a letter from them telling me I am eligible for an early upgrade, it then tells me I have 4 months left on my contract and the letter is dated as May. My contract ends on 1st Sept so I have 2 and a half mths left. It advises me to ring a freephone number to see what they can offer me - has anyone had any similar letters and are the deals likely to be any good at all? I know its a freephone number so it won't cost me anything to find out but I don't want to waste half an hr or more (knowing them) if the deals are just rubbish!
  • Yes they have it in stock, the guy is calling me back tomorrow said he would be able to deliver on Friday. Just looking on quido I can get £150 cash back from them through Orange on the following deal:-

Exclusive £150 cashback on the Samsung Galaxy SIII Panther Extra £36 for a 24 month tariff with no additional cost. Get 1000 mins, unlimited texts and WiFi and 1GB data for effectively £29.75 after cashback

so looks like the deal Im being offered isn't really that good. Might as well keep my current deal until end of Aug and see what offers are around then and cancel if need be.

Hi, can you confirm that you received your s3? I'm still waiting for mine, Orange said 7-10 days and this is now day ten!!

I'm in exactly the same position as you. My contract rang out last Friday. I have been trying to get a deal one the One S for weeks but they are completely uninterested in retaining my custom. I am hanging on until prices begin to drop, but as soon as that happens I will be gone.

Have a look here for deals on the One S- phonestore.techradar.com and http://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/

When you find a deal you like, ring up Orange and request your PAC (or cancellation if you don't want to keep your number)

When Orange ring you to try to get you to stay with them, get them to match or beat the offer you found elsewhere. If they can't/won't, take the deal you've already found.

No need to wait for prices to drop, if Orange don't try to retain your custom now, take it elsewhere.

Already done it, in fact I think my PAC runs out today. They never bothered ringing me, obviously five years custom means nothing. As soon as something becomes available on a network with coverage up here and through a company I trust I will be leaving Orange, their customer service stinks.

I had this and it told me that I can pay £67 to get out early??? So basically they have done what ofcom said in that they dont add the upgrade onto the length of the new contract, but they are actually just using it as a money making excercise!
    Surprise surprise!
  • My contract runs out 05th July.
I had rang Orange last week and agreed on an upgrade of 18 months. But they did the upgrade in system for 24months. Luckily i saw this on the online account and refused delivery of phone. Phoned them again today and agreed to below deal

    18 Months Contract
Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 - Free

    £11.30 per month
    200 xNet Minutes
    200 xNet Loyalty Minutes
    300 Texts
    Unlimited Landline Calls
    500MB Internet

Pretty Happy. I had got a better deal 18 months back, but they seem to have tightened their rules and not really ready to bargain a lot!

Contract ran out last month so I called today ready to leave with my PAC but I managed to get Sony Xperia S Free, 400 minutes, Unlimited Texts, 750mb and 15 picture messages. £18.74 a month. Pretty happy with that.

Been keeping an eye on the mobile phone offers lately, as the missus wants rid of her contract in a few months,

found on TCB, that when signing up for a £7 a month 12/m sim only, theres £30.30 cadhback.

So for the year - £84
    minus the £30cahback
£54 for the year, with 150 mins a month, 500 texts and some data (she doesnt use) Seems really good as she will keep to the texts no doubt. Even if using voicemail etc it should smash her current phone bill of £30+ a month out the window!
Would retentions better this? Shes been going over her bill by an average £8 a month but the cashback seems a good steal
