Your are confusing yourself, and muddling 2 seperate processes.

Asking for a PAC confirms an intention to leave the network, which you may only do FOC, when you have completed your contracted minimum term. If you are at the end of/or approaching the end of your minimum term and you request a PAC - once the PAC is issued, retentions will usually call you to try to offer you an inducement to stay with the network. Your PAC will be valid for 30 days, after which it will expire. If required, you can always apply for another one, however until you do use it - your existing contract will continue to roll on.

You can ask the network for a contract/phone upgrade when you are within your upgrade period (for Orange - 3 months before your minimum term ends). At this point you just ask about upgrades, and see what you get offered. You either accept or decline their offer. If you accept, any remaining time left on your original minimum term will be tagged onto the end of your NEW minimum term.

    Does this help explain?

like tony said its two seperate thing if its under 30 days you can ask to leave and get a pac or come to another agreement/deal

if its an upgrade at 3 months before thats all you can do you cant speak to retentions at that point

  • well guys. i am with orange since last 6 years and my contract is running out on 14/02/2012. i called them first time...told them already got samsung galaxy S...very nice lady gave me 2 offers...
    1) samsung galaxy Ace..400mints...unlmtd texts..500mb---£13 p/m
    2) samsung galaxy S2...400mints.....500mb (no texts)----£20 p/m
i said will come back to you later
after few days called...well spoken gentleman on the other side...
    offered me 2 offers...
    1) samsung galaxy Ace..200mints...500 texts..---£20 p/m
    2) samsung galaxy S2...400mints.....500mb (no texts)----£28 p/m

I felt disgusted while talking to him so i surprised myself by talking to him with sheer tolrance and said i will come back to you later.
Now i cant understand why he offred me those crappy deales when i was already offered better deals before. do you think they can see the previous offers they made to the customers on their screens.

to be honest i dont really have to stick with orange but i dont mind another 2 years with them if i get 400 mnts and few exts if its around £6-7 p/m. do you expert guys think i can achieve this with 6 years loyalty points or should i just call it a day?
    thanks

Exactly right. There's no such thing as "loyalty points". I'd been with Orange Mobile for about 5 years and also have my landline and broadband with them as well, so if anyone is going to qualify for any kind of loyalty bonus it would have been me :)

If you request a PAC, does that mean you have to leave the network?

I'm still working out whether to switch to vodafone

The pac lasts for 30 days then it expires and you have to get a new one. If you don't use it things just carry on.

If you have a phone, why are you getting deals including phones?

well it was another option for me as my son needs a phone so i thought i can give him my SGS and i can have SG2. Not that i am dying to have shiny new phone but thinking about the needs. well my 15 years old is a very sensible one he simply said mum i am very happy with my 4-5 years old LG Cookie. so now i dont need SS2. orange didn't make much effort to keep me so i might leave them as on Talk mobile sim only deals are very good and i might choose 200mnts...500 txts..500mb...they use Vodafone server/signal....30days rolling for £8/pm + £25
for 30 day £8 SIM only from quidco, So basically if i get the cashback from quidco then nearly for 3 months i am having this deal free of charge. hope my calculation is correct. very disappointed by Orange though. thanx.
