Orange Retention Offers

is it the early upgrade or the end of your contractWhat goes around-comes around0

My contract finishes today. I currently have a HTC Desire. I'm paying £26 a month for 600 mins, unlinited texts and 3G and insurance. Contract was for 18 months.
I'm happy enough with what I'm paying so I'm hoping they'll give me the same deal again, might be a little more with the recent price rise.
I have ended up paying more nearly every month. I'm not going over my limits but it's out of plan stuff like roaming etc. I'm near the border with Ireland and the signal can occassionally switch to a Southern network. Plus I'm down in Dublin a lot.
Anyway, my question is that my current Desire has a cracked screen but still functions. Just happened recently. I have insurance so can get a 'new' refurbed one to replace it. If I do this will it count against me when I go to get a deal?
Ideally I'd like to get my current Desire replaced, sell it and then sign up to a new contract and get a new phone.
If an insurance claim will result in not as good a deal being offered then the alternative is to just sell the current phone with the cracked screen for whatever I can get and then get a new contract and phone.
I did have a previous claim. On my first Desire the internal screen cracked and the whole screen went purple a few months after I got the phone.
So, to sum up, what gets me a better deal? Claiming for the Desire or nto claiming?

I this month (as i have already listed in the thread) received the following deal direct from orange retentions for the 16gb Iphone 4s
£36 a month (24 month contract)
2200 x-net minutes
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited land lines
Unlimited data (+wifi)
(+ standard magic numbers)
The phone cost was £60.
I haven't really seen a better deal than that considering the huge number of minutes.
Good number of minutes, but then again it will be when you're paying £924 in total. I was offered just under half those minutes and it worked out at £828 in total over an 18 month contract. This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.0 -

Just been offered:
FREE Samsung Galaxy S2
18 month contract
400 mins
Unlimited texts
1GB data
£31 a month
Wanted to get it under the £30 mark so will try once more laterThis thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.0 -
I phoned up retentions just to see what they will be able to offer or potential offer for me and they said:
Free Galaxy S2
400 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
750MB Internet
£26 a month. However he said that is worse case scenario and to call again Sunday to see what they can do. He also didn't specify contract duration but I've always had 18 months contracts, so not sure what this price was based upon really. He mentioned it was a Panther, what other benefits does this package have (something about swappables is there?).
Ideally I wanted to spend between £20-£25, and have seen deals elsewhere, some with pretty good redemption offers, but I'm always wary of those. At the moment I pay £27 for 300 mins, Unlim texts and 500MB internet, so it seems obvious to snatch that deal. I understand they can offer better closer to expiry in March, but my Desire is so !!!!!!ed with space issues and being slow, that I really could do with an upgrade ASAP.0 -

Yes, this was retentions. He had to 'falsify' the data on the system as I'm still a few days away, but he said that should well be on come Sunday, and thats a worst case deal, they may be able to come up with something better on Sunday.
I cannot see that myself, but I'm certainly intrigued whether it was for 18 months or not. Either way I'll base it on 18 months when I call again Sunday as thats the contracts I've had since being with them.0 -
