Orange Retention Offers

thats ok then if youre giving the phone away dont know why he said you wouldnt have magic numbers though
Yeah I was surprised but it is definitely what he said. All the other deals offered, well all two of themhad magic numbers with them but they were both two year deals so maybe they are trying to push them just now rather than one year deals because it ties us to them for longer. Then again, I was surprised when he said the rolling contracts had them but the 12 month deals didn't because, for one thing, I got them on my last 12 month deal and, for another, you'd think they'd want to discourage the possibilty of us walking away in less than a year.
I actually lost my old phone last month and I had already paid €10 to get it unlocked when I was over in Dublin one time (Orange were wanting £20 AND said it would take a few weeks ) because I didn't want to risk doing it myself and screwing up the phone. I made up my mind when I'd given up on the old one re-appearing that I'd get one from an independent retailer, already unlocked. So I went to Carphone Warehouse and the guy there was extremely helpful, I chose a phone not too different from the one I had before, which I had liked and was gutted to lose, and it was just under £50 whereas my old one (bought with my PAYG phone fund before I went to contract) was £70 plus the unlock fee so it worked out quite well. It was actually a PAYG that needed you to order credit with it but the CW guy used an active PAYG SIM (I commandeered my dad's) to enable him to get that waived. He even took the time to let me try out my UK and Irish SIMS to make sure both worked alright. I'd recommend anyone getting a new phone go down that route. Especially if you want leverage over your existing provider.

Magic numbers only available on 18 month or longer contracts, according to all the Orange blurb. A useful ncentive for them, to try and tie you in for longer periods.0 -

That must be a new thing then as I used to have them on a 12 month contract (my last contract) and my mum still has them on her 12 month contract (she's about 6 months in I think). I'm fairly sure this guy tried to offer me a 30 day rolling contract that included them but it's possible I misunderstood. I think the complication lay with trying to get me a deal with them and the international numbers (and not the exorbitant one of a Camel deal on their web site - that one gives 400 UK minutes, unlimited texts and 100 international minutes at £20.50 on a 30 day rolling deal). That is SIM only as well btw. I prefer my deal, which the more I think of it, the more I think it is an absolutely amazing deal considering I have everything now that I could ever use my phone for.:money:

After waiting 10 minutes to get through to somebody i got this offer -
I got an early upgrade 18 months ago as i broke my phone - So total it was a 20month contract till Feb 2012.
I said that i wanted to cancel my orange care insurance for my phone because my contract is nearly up and i would be leaving in feb 2012, I advised them that i had been disgusted with the service i had recieved and couldnt wait to leave unless they could match tesco, which ofcourse they couldnt.
For an iphone 4s 22months (because id be upgrading early.) - they offered me
@£35 a month
500 minutes
500 texts
1gb internet
free iphone 4s 16gb
I respectfully declined. Just FYI for anyone wanting a new iphone 4s.0 -
they dont do deals on the iphone even if youre already with themWhat goes around-comes around0

Rang Orange today - exactly 30 days left on my contract.
They offered me Samsung Galaxy S2 on a 24 month contract:
- 400 xnet minutes (more than enough for me);
- Unlimited Texts;
- 1.25GB Data; and
- 30 Picture Messages.
£22.10 per month with upfront payment of £41 for the phone.
Total cost = £571.40.
It sounds pretty good to me I'm tempted to go for it. Anyone think I can get a better deal?0 -
just shop around see if you can get soemthing on a new deal cheaper and then go back to orange-im sure some places are giving the phone free with the contractWhat goes around-comes around0

My contract is up at the end of December so I rang them to see about a different phone and was offered:
£15.50 (24 months)
200 anytime mins
200 loyaly mins
unlimited text messages
250mb internet
Free broadband.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Ace/HTC Wildfire
I thought this deal was ok but having reaad some posts on this thread I think I could do better. This deal in meets my needs but maybe I get it cheaper. What do you guys think?
Been thinking about a 12 month sim only deal. I'm not really bothered about getting anew phone as I bought a new samsung tocco back in Aug as my nokia broke, and these phone choices are not really that different. I do want to make sure I keep my free broadband though.0 -
Just stumbled across this fascinating thread !
Anyway, after 21 long months, my £30 old iphone contract starts the 3 month timer tomorrow. The thing is, I never use anywhere near my texts or (especially) minutes - that's always been the case and even the Orange person thought my usage was unusually low last time.
So it seems I'm in a good position, having been with Orange for about 10 years and a real money-spinner for them. That will end !
I'm keen on an Iphone 4 (not 4S) which should help a bit. I suspect i'll need to wait till nearer 4 March before things get really good (or maybe not ?), but I'll let you know what they start the bidding at tomorrow.
If anyone has any views on what I should be aiming for, please post them here. I need a free Iphone 4, and in the order of 150 minutes, 250 texts and 500mb internet. As I pay £30 currently I get free 5mb Orange home internet thrown in and I'd like to keep that obviously, but at a lower monthly cost.
Thanks

If my experience is anything to go by, not taking a phone is actually worse than taking one. so I would negotiate the best deal with phone and then sell the phone if you dont want it.0
