Orange Retention Offers

How can you ditch your number and think about deals for new customers if it is an early upgrade i.e. your contract minimum term has not expired yet?
And surely the best deals (if any) people have got on a 4s were not for early upgrades.

Best way to get the Iphone 4S?
NEW THREAD: Cheapest iPhones article0 -
I meant to take out a new iPhone contract and cancel my current contract when it expires in Feb.0

If you can't wait until the end of the min term, maybe a contract is not your cup of tea? Even ignoring wasted months when you pay for two contracts at the same time, pretty often it is cheaper (in terms of the total amount) to buy a sim-free phone and use it on a sim-only or PAYG tariff.
Just a thought...0 -
I thought I would give Orange one last chance as they never bothered to call me after I requested my PAK code.
I spent about 30 minutes talking to a very helpful young lady who went through various combinations of tariff and phone in order to try and get me to stay.
They were absolutely no where near the deals that others on here have been offered and they maintained that my £5 loyalty discount would not be continued.
I have just signed up with O2 through Dialaphone (part of Phones4U).
HTC Sensation XE 200 x network minutes, unlimited texts, bt openzone and cloud wifi
£21:50 pm (upfront cost of £19)
I was an Orange customer for as long as I can remember.
Some value they place on customer loyalty!0 -
I have to say I just dont get things like this. I make little extra money over my contracted amount (which has never been over £15) for Orange a month. I cant be that valuable to Orange. My OH is the same.
I always negotiate the contract first and then the phone.0 -
Can anyone confirm that Orange can NOT do any deals on the iPhone 4S?
The guy I spoke to in upgrades says no-one has or will get discount on them. This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.0 -

Partly true. They cannot do a deal unless someone rings you from retentions. I.e. if u ring upgrades or "think about leaving" they will say to you they cant give u any discounts.
I wrote the deal i got above (and I wanted an android phone rather than the iphone, but the tariff was too good.
36 pounds a month for
2200 xnet minutes
unlimited landlines
unlimited texts
unlimited data
Iphone 4S 16gig for £60 (reduced from £99)
(Essentially the above deal is very similar to the 3 network ONE PLAN. though they charge 99 quid for the 4s. Seeing that they share the same network now if orange dont give u a deal you're best off going with them if you want a 4s and loadsa minutes!)
I haven't seen orange do much better than that. I have a 3GS currently with o2 as well (getting rid of both contract phones to just have one phone like a normal person!!) and they were not able to come close to that offer with the iphone.
Hope that helps0 -
Cheers for the reply.
I've decided against it as what they're offering me is appalling, going to get the best mobile I can while keeping my price plan down. Then sell it and put towards one sim-free from Apple.
I've worked out it'll save me about £400!This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.0 -
Well it seems my deal was too good to be true. Noticed that I was incurring charges over the weekend and it appeared to be the picture messages that should have been included. Phoned up tonight and got a very nice but unhelpful person who repeatedly thanked me for my loyalty and as a gesture of goodwill added 50 picture messages onto my account. I had to explain several times that this was meant to be included as part of the contract, a point that seemed to elude him.
I then asked him to confirm the entire package I've been given and apart from the missing messages everything appeared ok until it came to the cost - seems that its £15.00 on the system. I've asked him to look into it and if it cant be resolved to exactly £7.52 that I wanted the upgrade call reviewed by a manager. Had to leave it there but will be phoning back tomorrow to discuss it further. If be its not resolved then I'll be kicking up a bug fuss this time. Will need to do a little research on my rights to cancel everything and walk away so I use that as a bargaining tool at the very least.0 -
Spoke to Orange this morning to get an early termination fee for my contract as I want an iPhone 4S.
I have 12months left so I knew it would be high but they really do struggle with maths at Orange.
To pay off my contract it would be £243.24 but to early upgrade would be £208.15.
I told them that I was looking at a 4S on Three with 900 mins, 500 texts and 1gb web for £35pm and no upfront fee.
As a retention the lady offered me a 4S with 600 mins, Unltd texts and 1gb web for £36.90pm and a £30 upfront fee.
I pointed out that it was actually only £5 cheaper than cancelleing to do this upfront but would cost £40 more over the course of the contract and that's without factoring in any Quidco.
I do think she struggled with this but to be fair she was nice and did do her best. I asked if she would waive the £30 but was unable to do so.
In the end I reduced my tariff affective at my next billing date and will pay off my contract then. Will save me £60 when I cancel to do this.0
