where did u see this - was it with tmobile ?

i have found that trying to upgrade with orange is going to cost me more than to actually take out a new contract with them
I'm at work now so don't have the direct link but like Grumbler has predicted it came from Affordable Mobiles (I'm pretty sure the link I saw didn't have any Cashback attributed to it, but I can check tonight).

Agreed. That's why I'm going to give them a bit of time to do so - perhaps give it longer than the single day mentioned above. But I have no doubt they'll give me a ring, even if its just to echo the same offer they offered me previously.

It's two weeks since I got my PAK code and no calls from Orange.
I'm off to O2 at the end of next week.

    Ah... bit worrying!

The missus got a phone call a few days later when she rang up to talk about upgrading (granted she never went as far as requesting a PAK code though).

You can definitely upgrade and/or agree a new contract proir to the end of your existing one. If they wont discuss it with you then just ask to be put through to the cancellation dept - that should get the discussion started :)

    Thanks latecomer,

Just called back up, was told that the 'screen' was locked until my upgrade date. So they couldn't look at anything for me, I said about possibly upgrading my plan as im paying £20 pm I could go up to £25 max really and she started reeling off the plans which you see on the website. Nothing added or extra. She said once she knows what phone I could get then they'll tailor something around that phone. Which is fair enough.

I told her about a deal i seen on here for the S2, 24m, 900 mins, ULTD Texts and 1GB internet and she couldnt fathom it whatsover and tried to compare it to the current plans.

I mentioned retentions and she said if you dont like what we can offer you we can pt you through to retentions to see what they can offer you. I also mentioned loyalty discount and she said that only retentions can offer you that.

Im just so impatient this phone is so old and awful! Wait till friday lol!

    hi!

I can upgrade my phone on the 4th of november, I just called orange to have a chat about offers etc and they said they wouldnt even be able to look at anything for me until the 4th when the upgrade 'screen' becomes available. does this sound right? I just noticed other posters said they've called up before the date to secure deals.

Also i was told previously my upgrade date was the 2nd of nov. now apparently its the 4th :$

If your upgrade date is the 2nd/4th of November, that is 3 months before the end of your contract. Generally you will get the better offers in the last 30 days of your contract when you can leave with no questions asked if you want.

So she was probably telling the truth when she said she can't view any offers for you, when she gave you the higher tariffs she pretty much told you the standard plans that you could upgrade to one month into your contract if you needed to

24 months :( but I got it from the shop, so I'm pleased they actually wavered from the offers they could give me. Had to fight for the picture messages though.

Bummer. Sounded like the sort of deal I was after. They're pretty cagey about 18 month contracts at the minute it seems. Surely they've got to realise that 24 month contracts are just ludicrous.
